Broughton Audio Super Thread

I’M A GOOBUS!

Some thing awesome and pink showed up today. Thank you to the folks who helped me get this gnarly sweet pink fuzzy little dude. I couldn’t have done it without the help from some good folks and some good pedal karma. Feeling the flow. you gotta harvest the good energy and block out the bad. Harvest energy, block bad. Feel the flow, feel it, it’s circular. Its like a carousel. You pay the quarter, you get on the horse, and you go up and down and around ….
I'll take two of whatever you took with your lunch today ;)

I assumed I would want the Studio Boost at the end of my chain, where most would otherwise likely place their Studio Ones. I expected it would color everything in a lovely way if placed at the end. Indeed it does, but I was not that impressed. The effect seemed really subtle. But then the other day I tried it at the front of my chain. It's waaaaay better first or second in line, IMHO. It has a way more obvious warming effect when placed early in the signal chain, though headphones and my amp so far. Uncle Rick approves.

So today, in pedal-swapping-shenanigans, I tried a shorter signal chain: Studio Boost > Empress BC > FatDrive > Mustang > LPHP...holy smokes.
My latest favourite small chain is similar.
Mustang -> Empy BC -> Archetype VB -> SS -> S1. Then into a Simone and CABM+ for a 2 channel signal into the interface. Sounds awesome.

Oh man, I bet! I normally have the Mustang up front and toggle between it or the SB...but Mustang at the end, w/the extra flexibility it has...sounded so great.

Someone needs to tell me why I DONT need an Archetype.

I have been looking at my pedals and trying to figure out what order they might go in.
I am making an assumption that this would be similar to guitar and so I am, or at least I think I am, following best practices.

Dirt Pedals (highest to lowest gain)
Dynamic-type Pedals (Compressors, Filters, Octaves, pitch effects)
Modulation (Chorus, Phaser, Flanger, Trem and Vibrato)
Time-based Pedals (Delay, Echo, Reverb)

I don't have any modulation effects or time-based effects at this time.

My initial thoughts, and I am definitely open to suggestions are:

BASS----->
Calamity (Fuzz)
Locust Star (Distortion)
Monocomp (Compressor)
Josh Wah (Envelope Filter)
Flip-top (Pre-amp)
SV-PRE (Pre-amp)
Messenger DI
-----> Focusrite Scarlett

I also have an RFE but not sure where it would go.

I do SVP into Fliptop, but I'm not sure why I arrived there.

This is all highly subjective I’ve but I’d go
Tuner
Compressor
(Fx loop)
Fuzz, Overdrive, Distortion (order can change)
Modulation
Envelope filter
Delay/looper
Preamps
I put preamps last because I want to treat them like the front end of an amp. Also delay into modulation can sound amazing. I always put tremolo last in the chain before a preamp
