Definitely. You can still get some good grit if you dime it and some light breakup at higher settings, but definitely warmer with more room to move. My Delano pups are blazing hot and crazy bright, even in passive mode where I reside, so the ay7 helped a bit with taming that as well. I was skeptical before swapping them, but instantly knew I made the right decision haha.

GMP into the Omni is now my favorite non Broughton - Broughton combo.

Cheese fried sunny side up eggs, bacon, and latkes.
For the record, there were 3 slices of bacon, 3x latkes, and 2x eggs, but several got eaten before I remembered to take a picture! LOL

The best thing to come out of the whole kerfuffle.
I really wish that pedaltrain would’ve kept the grande boards. I have a tera 42 that I’ve never used because its so shallow.
I’m gonna try it again since I don’t have a es-5 anymore. Hopefully it works out. If not I’ll either use my small board with a pt-pro or zip tie two pt-pros together.

Spent part of the afternoon comparing the Omnicomp and API Cmp.
Overall impressions:
API has obvious coloration going on in all settings. Baked in high frequency sheen and low mid warmth. A very attractive sound but can get tiring depending on your mood. Lack of side chain hp is not a big problem with a little blend mixed in.
Omnicomp sounds very clean in comparison. Perfect companion to the Grace preamps if clean and pristine is the goal. The built in sidechain hp is perfectly tuned for bass....I could even do without the clean blend since there's a lot useful range with the controls.
Noise is low on both but the Omni is cleary quieter at higher compression settings. Although not a huge difference with proper gain structuring.
Both are quality pieces and if I had to pick one I would go with the Omni for its more granular control and clean signal. Always easy to dirty it up later in the chain.
Both are staying for now.

Oh well scratch that. Just ended up playing bass instead.
I did hook up the rickosound though and had a lot of fun. I also have the bi-phase running after my cab sims now. Might try some delay after as well. To many options.

Regarding Broughton compressors and color...
I definitely get color with the Omnicomp. The Apex while much cleaner also gave me color. The Monocle was too much squishy color for me. I have never tried the Monocomp....I have never tried the T R I O P T I C O N.
Could some of these be dialed in to have no color? Sure...you've got a blend knob in most so you can bury the compression and/or just set it so subtle that it isn't there. I like to set my compression so I notice it. Not on every note but it's clearly there...like when I set my gain staging for something tubey. I want to feel those tubes when I dig in....not every note...but when I dig in....oh yeah.
