When it's put into production? Given tape saturation plugins I'm certainly curious about a lunch box version (if it sounds good).

They are definitely quite different, the quick report having spent half an hour a/b ing them through headphones is that I can actually get them in the same ballpark for my settings. The Omni can certainly add the bit of extra thump I’m looking for (although I probably use a compressor in bit of a different way to most) and is very flexible and transparent sounding to me.
The Cali has a baked in tone I can’t describe but miss when it’s not there especially when switching back and forth. I do still wish it had a separate attack/release though.
I’ll have more time to play around with them both later in the week through an amp and cab to get a better real world comparison. Then I’ll decide which will go on which board.
I have discovered I like a compressor before and after the octave pedal though, but that’s probably too much, although I do have a Fairfield Accountant kicking about…. So maybe.

Fortunately, I got the Omnicomp. It has different characteristics than the Empress and I would use both. But I prefer the Omni.
Thanks Josh for the added explanation of the sidechain high-pass filter I asked about here. Maybe it is a coincidence.
P.S. Omni handled well, even a hot signal through a preamp.

Only reason I would go for a Maestro is as trade-bait, and that's not something I'm comfortable doing, so I'm happily sitting this one out too.
That's not a game I'm even remotely entertaining right now. I'd much rather sleep in.
