Broughton Audio Super Thread

And does it do subtle fuzz?

I'm somewhat tempted to try them on my P bass because it seems like P bass players like them more on average than Jazz bass players, but it's an expensive experiment.
Not expensive except for the “buy once, cry once” thing. They’ll last past the life of any strings you own. And you can flip them if it doesn’t work for you. I’ve spent way more on strings that are good for nothing now.
I have a set that have been on 3 different basses and still going strong.

I was surprised that I wasn't surprised by this. Then I imagined saying any one of these sentences to my guitarist...

Bitter sweet strings thanks to you guys getting me hooked. I keep one bass always strung with them.
These things really are awesome and last forever except when your roughhousing dogs knock over two of your basses at once and dent the heck out of them. Ordered another set. $87.

Your dogs are trying to tell you something. They are right.

So with the Maestro coming out soon, when was the last time it was released? And does it do subtle fuzz?

i don’t have a maestro, but I have a malekko b.assmaster, which is another brass master style fuzz and subtle is definitely not it’s deal. Obnoxious, unruly, sputtery, awesome are all appropriate descriptors but not subtle!

i love the malekko but I’d definitely like to give the maestro a whirl to compare.

How do you rate the Temple experience overall?
So far so good. It’s a little more flimsy than my old steel Gator board, but that board is a tank. I went with Velcro instead of their special connectors since I had a bunch on hand. I’m also using the dedicated Temple/Cioks Hi5 power supply, which mounts right to the board. Pretty neat.

They are VERY much alike. I have both. In my mind I think I like the Maestro a little better, but I could be imagining it. It cold be because the Maestro is smaller... or pinker... or has top jacks... or is a Broughton... whatever. Seems to me the Maestro is just a little easier to dial in for what I want - which is almost exclusively to use it with an octave pedal. But the Malekko is good, and I could happily live with it if necessary.

I agree - neither would be best described as subtle.

I know this group might be a bit biased, but do you guys consider the Maestro to be "the best" brassmaster clone? I have a BEAD already that I'm quite happy with, but if the Maestro is noticeably better or different...
I don't have a Maestro. I do have a VFE Woodchipper which I think is pretty good, and I think others think pretty highly of.

Without actually looking up demos, I like the control options that pedal has. The ‘Bottom’ control is similar to the BEAD’s LPF on the clean blend. But I want less pedal options, not more! :D

I’ll probably let the Maestro go next week, since I am happy with what I have. But on the other hand, PINK!
