I was not aware of the Sonoran until I received the press release. Resistance lasted all of 3 or 4 seconds. Order placed!

I really need to sell some of the shelf pedals, so I feel less guilty about spending money on new stuff.
Damn. It's quite hard to let these go away, but $165 shipping fees to France is something harder to justify unfortunately. Miss the good $40 fees old days. Congrats y'all, sure the Sonoran is an amazing one !

Oh. Wow. That relegates future Broughton pruchases to the secondary market should those fees persist.
It depends i guess. Fact i can't justify the extra effort doesn't mean it can't be justified. A good Brough, living in Paris as well, just pulled the trigger. He's doing right, as i do. I guess.
I'm a sucker for a good tube based preamp, and always loved the 400+, just couldn't resist! Pulled the trigger when I got the email.

Hmm, yes and no. The Sonoran needs to be placed in context:
- It follows the release of numerous other Broughton preamp and amp-in-a-box pedals, including two back-to-back Scorpion Deluxe drops. Josh is competing against himself here.
- Most players only need one or maybe two preamps. It's not an effect where players will have five or six on a board.
- Batch sizes are bigger than they used to be.
- Releases are more frequent than they used to be. Customers only have so much money.
- It is housed in a landscape-oriented 1590BB enclosure. Customers only have so much room on their boards.
- The Sonoran is an usually expensive Broughton pedal. In fact, I think it is the most expensive Broughton pedal to date (excluding lunch box preamps, rack preamps, etc. since those are not pedals).
- It still sold out in about three hours.

Oh, man... one of the SB mini drops I was checking the quantity and then proceeded to accidentally buy 13 or so of them. Josh emailed me immediately and kindly asked me what I planned to do with them. I explained the situation, shared a laugh and he refunded me. So, yeah... I empty my cart each time now.
The Mesa preamp II di plus thing was meant to relieve the gas for an D-800+, minus the parametric eq. It did that. I want an 800D. Getting the second Subway sorta tamed that. If this doesn't do it, I'm going to sell it and jist buy the damn 800D.
The B800D is legit Le Titz. I have zero amp gas. Cabs are a different story, of course.
Sonoran acquired. Never owned or played through a Mesa, but I was eyeing a WD-800 for a while before going with a Quilter instead. Found some clips of the 800D and the 400+, was sold pretty quick.
Need to rearrange the board to make it fit, but I was planning that soon anyway.

I wish we had had this chat 3 years ago when I first got into this game. I think I have had 5 on the board at once tone chasing clean and various forms of grit through the IEMs. Although in my defense, they were not used all at once … very often
Different, much less complicated story, via an amp. Even less complicated with the 800d. My base clean tone in achieved, still deciding on grit … but holy smokes does the flip top sound beautiful through it.

If the Sonoran brings the wump/3D thing that the amp brings, I don't think anyone will be disappointed, unless they prefer a really clinical/mega-accurate tone.
Agreed. The DI out on the 800D is awesome. Like you, I've got one so I sat this out, but if the Sonoran sounds like what it's based on, it's going to be great.

I predict this will be one if the best tube/ss preamps to date, from Josh at least. Ive been waiting for something like this for a while
