Tom Richards can point you in the right direction. He's the man as far as Brutes go. Donovan at Fretspot is a Brubaker dealer and can hook you up as well. He seems very knowlegeable and seems to be a very good guy as well and will work with you to get what you want. There are some for sale on ebay as well. IMO a Brute should be a part of every bassists arsenal to spead the word for those who still want a Brubaker but maybe cannot afford a USA made Brubaker. I'm a Brubaker fan for life. I like other basses as well, but when I step out in public I'm representing and putting my best foot forward, and Brubakers help me do it best. Just my personal opinion. Another good contact for anything Brubaker would be Brad Johnson or Malcolm Hall.

Cool thing, thanks man! I generally play six strings, but I think I wouldn't mind playing a Brute. I've already envisioned getting a custom pickguard from Kevin and custom electronics installed! It'll be my labor of love lol. Thanks again for the info, I'm going to look into it forthwith.

You talking about the stock bridge? It's a somewhat generic chinese made bridge, lots of bass companies use them. It's not a bad bridge...I've certainly used worse (Fender!) but I replaced mine with a Hipshot and got quite an improvment in the sound.

But one place you can get those is Carvin:

GuitarPartsDepot used to sell them for like $20, but they have since shut down.

Are any of the new Brute SC-5's going to have Maple Boards? Or just rosewood? I really want to get one but I'm partial to Maple. It won't stop me from purchasing but if a later run is going to have them I could wait till that happens.

Just found out that the Brute SC-5s all come with Rosewood Boards. I just locked down a deal with Donovan at fretspot for a Merlot SC-5. They come with matte black finish on the headstock and the black finish on back of the neck. Can't wait to get it. Since the MM pickup is 4 wire I'm having him put a 3 way coil spliter on the bass before he ships it.

Hey Brubaker Brute club members. By a show hands how many of you are going to cop one of the new Single Cuts? I'm getting one and I highly recommend that you talk to Donovan about your purchase. He worked an EXCELLENT deal for me and you can negotiate you own deal with him. If you don't talk to him first you're making a Brutal mistake. Sorry I know that was corny but on the real see Donovan. Word!!!!

I have a MJX-5 but it does look like they are farther apart. Nevertheless the JJX's that are being produced currently have an awesome agressive killer sound. I am a 5 string player but I'd love to have 4 banger JJX just to slap the hell out of it. and I would play it (out) against any other JB in it's price range and even higher. Whenever I pick up my MJX-5 and play it through my amp, my wife even notices. She even can tell that I'm playing that Brubaker bass. She's like you're playing that bass, I can tell, there's a difference. I just copped a set of DR Highbeams from Bass Strings Online and I can't wait to see how the MJX-5 is going to sound.

Thanks for the info guys just on the lookout for a 5er to take over for my Schecter Diamond P it's just too heavy and bulky plus I want something more modern and the Brute seems to fit the bill.

One more question did anyone have any reservations about buying one sight unseen and was there any issues with that?

My suggestion is to buy from someone you trust. Someone that will stand behind their products and service. Someone that will inspect the instrument and adjust it to your preference, and not just forward the box to you without over going over it.

Nope. when I heard Malcolm Hall Demo the Brutes and I heard that aggressive and clear piano tone I was sold. Strapped up the Brute is very comfortable to play. I played football in HS and college and I have been in several car accidents so my back is very worn. The Brute does not give me a problem. If you want a modern bass with a modern sound get one or two. All your buddies will want to play it.
