Bruno Mars band kicked SB butt.

Flea didn't even bother to plug in the fake wireless, his bass had no cable at all. That is just so sad/lazy I don't even have words.

Who is Flea's new role model? Kenny Chesney?

Chad is actually auctioning off that funky NFL logo kit for charity, it was made by the same guy that made Peart's NHL "Blue Ice" kit.

I wouldn't be surprised if playing to prerecorded stuff was required. Perhaps it was a form of protest, like when Muse switched up all the instruments on that French show?

I have friends who thought it was great. I thought it was okay. Meh game, meh show. Even the National Anthem wasn't terribly inspiring. I'm turning into a cantankerous old man. :(

Wow, I couldn't disagree with you more on the singing of the Nation Anthem. Renee Fleming is the first person in a long time that I've heard nail those big notes with class and authority and she could remember the words too.

+1 to that. I really hope they start picking people like that for the National Anthem over the pop people who kind of butcher it. That was the best I recall ever hearing.

Flea is one of my most favorite bassist in the world. I'm really disappointed that he really wasn't playing. But I expected most of this performance to be prerecorded. I still love flea though.

She probably did remember the lyrics, however they were also displaying them on the screens around the stadium (presumably for the crowd but I bet Christina wished she'd had them). At times Renee sounded powerful, but it didn't sound great. I fully admit it's a personal opinion at this point, nothing wrong with her voice, it just didn't do it for me.

That's what makes the Nation Anthem by Renee Fleming all the more impressive. BTW, there's no doubt in my mind Fleming knows the words cold. Having these lyrics memorized is child's play for her. Try to remember how to sing an entire opera in a foreign language. Hours of material to remember.

The point is, who cares? So what if they tracked the music to obtain the best sound for a tv broadcast of 12 minutes?
It's not like those musicians didn't track it/can't play it/didn't want to play.

Any one of those musicians could mop the floor with yer talent and hand you yer @zz

It is about delivering the best sound in a 10 minute slot on a roll in roll out stage.

It's about how delightful the music style was. Maybe a lot of you guys are just too young or too biased to admit when you hear good music just because it isn't your thing: it wasn't metal or stoner or whatever.

It was old fashioned, party down, big band, visual, visceral, good time, happy, party down, positive energy, have sex music.
