Bugera Veyron BV1001M gig review

In my experience, manufacturers always list the 4 ohm power output of the amps and you have to dig a little to find the 8 ohm performance (I assume that it will run 1000W at 8 ohms). Though I am inclined to run the thing with a 4 ohm load just to get 2000 watts out of it, the cab I am looking at does not show it impedance.

You will be fine with that cab, just use your ears. I sold the big 2x15 cab a while back and converted my 2 2x10 cabs to a vertical setup. I use one cab in small rooms and 2 in larger rooms and outdoors, rarely ever have PA support. And I'm using the original Behringer cabs from before they started the Bugera brand and only the speakers in the cabs were Bugera. Never had an issue, but I know the Veyron amp could probably destroy some speakers, But I know what I'm doing :) so that doesn't happen.

I should have been more correct and said that the master volume was at 1/3 and I felt an increase of volume and bottom end when I boosted the master.

You'll get a better quality sound with the master at full and adjust gain accordinly. My Veyron seems to want to clip easier set less than half.
But that's my experience.

Wow I tried out the veyron tube for about a week didn’t care for it. I just received my mosfet and it’s a killer amp I love this thing paired with my BBC Tank 1215 there is no gig I can’t handle. The thing I love most about this amp I set it completely flat and it sounds amazing!!!! Thanks for all of your reviews about this bass head!!!

Tomorrow I'll receive the tube version, I ordered it for just €300 :roflmao:
My ol' Bugera BVP5500 (with Philips NOS tubes) was getting some issues, but after almost 10 years and having paid €279 for it I can say I was more then satisfied with that amp. I hope the tone of the Veyron comes close to the BVP5500 because I really liked it.
I do have a TC Electronic BH250, but it lacks the power to use it in a live setting, the tone also doesn't come near that of the BVP5500.
I'll report on the sound of the Veyron when I'm able to test it, probably upcoming Friday :bassist:

NAD!
I just recieved the Veyron T, here are my initial thoughts.

Pro's:
  • knobs feel solid
  • a single knob compressor that's actually usefull (of course it can't replace a rack unit)
  • construction looks and feels solid
  • unbeatable price performance ratio (bought it for €300)
  • perfect upgrade for my BVP5500
  • the sound; nice tube warmth perfect for slap 'n pop (doesn't get harsh or brittle but still open and clear), firm bottom end
Con's:
  • none thus far

I haven't been able to push the amp so I can't comment on it's power. What I can say is that you don't need to crank the volume to get a clear tone (in contrast to my TC Electronic BH250 which sounds muffled on lower volume).
All in all my best purchase this year :):bassist:

Hopefully someone can answer my question. I just bought a Behringer BX2000H (it supposedly has the same power amp as the veyron M). It sounds great with my 4-ohm Avatar 4x10. I play in a rock band and it can get really loud, but I could easily hear myself with 2 loud guitarist, drums, and vocals (I play a P Bass). I was actually told to turn down. I noticed that the clip light was staying red the whole time. The speakers were not struggling nor was the amp. Am I hurting anything doing this? Thanks.

In my ears the M is more natural, neutral sounding than the T which adds quite some character to the tone.
The T tends to sound quite dark, and you really have to push the gain and treble on the amp to get it sound more fresh and to really get the highs open up.
But then again it offers some serious push and punch in the lower registers, I'm not sure if you can get them sound like the other one with their respective onboard EQ.

I would say the M is more versatile and lifely, while the T is more on the smooth side with more "ooomph".

IMHO if you are playing "fast" music, be it Rock, Funk, Metal etc. the M might be the one to go to, if your playstyle is more on the slow side, laying massive foundations with weight to every single note played, the T may suit better.

That's not saying you cannot do everything with either of them, it's more like a tendency.

That said, this is all from my memory as I'm not playing the Veyrons anymore.
I switched to the Behringer BX2000H which has the same power section as the Veyrons (Bugera is just another brand of Music Group Corp. which was founded by Uli Behringer), but I like its EQ section more than both of the Veyrons, giving you 5-band-EQ as opposed to 3-band, a frequency variable Shape Filter and some more.
All set flat the Behringer sounds pretty much like the Veyron M.

Hey Lindex I figured since you owned this amp you could help me out on the question. I'm just copying from my original post.

Hopefully someone can answer my question. I just bought a Behringer BX2000H (it supposedly has the same power amp as the veyron M). It sounds great with my 4-ohm Avatar 4x10. I play in a rock band and it can get really loud, but I could easily hear myself with 2 loud guitarist, drums, and vocals (I play a P Bass with a hot Dimarzio Model P). I was actually told to turn down. I noticed that the clip light was staying red the whole time. The speakers were not struggling/farting nor was the amp. I did not lose any tone or volume and the amp had more volume to give. Both master volume and gain were set at around noon to 1 o'clock. Am I hurting my amp/speakers doing this? Thanks.

Hey Bordinco,

no worries, you're not killing anything.
You're just hitting the amp's poweramp stage limiter, so it shows you it's reached its maximum output power and won't get any louder.
The amp is simply avoiding to overdrive the poweramp which in Class D amps wouldn't really sound any good.

In case you need to get louder for any reason, try to cut the lowest frequencies to give the amp a little more headroom.
The lower the frequency, the more power it requires to reach the same perceived loudness level, so slightly turning down the bass knob can help.
To compensate loss in the lows you can try to increase the low mids a little which in this amp are centered pretty low at 140 Hz.

Yeah I just had practice yesterday again with the amp. The clip light still stayed on most of the time, but it really sounded great. I've noticed that after practice (amp stays on about 4-5 hours) it is warm under the amp. It still sounds great though. I'm just concerned about the long term durability of the amp.

Obviously you can find good and bad reviews on anything. When the amp got 3 stars or less it was either failure or poor sound. If I’m buying something I want to know all the bad so I’m not surprised when something happens.

I purchased this amp in June of 2022…. All of a sudden it just stopped working- it lights up and no sound to the bugera speaker…. I took to sound west audio a place who has repaired my equipment for decades… They called bugera to get the part that needed repair and they told them they were behind on shipping and not to expect the part until 11/2023. I have been playing bass for 30 years and I have never had equipment fail like this. I bought this amp on the recommendation of friend because it's light weight with great sound. I think it was flawed from the beginning.

Not Happy!​

I purchased 2 of these amps a few months ago, after reading all of the positive reviews on them. Both of my amps are now causing static in all of my bass cabinets. I have switched the amps between 4 bass cabinets and continue to have static issues on each of them. The cabs work great with my other bass amps from several different manufacturers. I will be contacting Sweetwater to see what can be done. I'll update my review based on the feedback or any solutions I receive. I don't recommend buying this bass amp.

Don't waste your money and the amp is not 2000 Watts​

I bought this amp over two years ago and it sounds very weak and cut off on me when I turn the the amp up half way and the parts was cheap and the knobs fell off and the amp was under power and the pad button clip on me when I was playing a passive bass and to make sure that it wasn't this amp only I went to a local store that had this model and the other bugera and all of them had the same problem to make a long story short I do not see no professionals playing this amp and do not be fool like me and some others this is not really a 2000 Watts amp it is no louder than a 500 watt amp do not buy this get something else.

Not Real Tube Sound.........​

With nothing but great reviews on this, and at such a low price, why not try it out, right!? Well, the power this puts out is extreme, and if you aren't careful, it will easily overpower the average 400-500 watt cab, which will produce a very troubling noise when your woofer over-travels... Be warned!

What I was really hoping for (stupidly), is that the trio of 12AX7C's would provide a warm-rich tone, that would "sing" out to me whilst I played. What I'm getting instead, is dry-lifeless amplification that I would expect by plugging directly into a PA amplifier..... I'm not sure what kind of REAL tube amplifiers other reviewers are comparing this to, but I've had the pleasure to both play-through and own some very nice REAL tube amps. And this amp does NOT achieve what it is hyped-up to do. I'm not even sure how they can advertise that it has a tube pre-amp, when the tubes never even see enough voltage to light up properly. Don't believe me..? Pop the top cover off and notice the three Amber LED's used to simulate the tubes actually glowing. Anyone who's paid attention to a real tube amp knows that 12AX7's don't put out that much light. They even put in a cute little delay in the lighting to simulate them slowly heating up. All a scam.... If you are looking at this amp for the "TUBE WARMTH", I would advise you to save $100 and go with the Mosfet version. At least you'll know exactly what you are getting, without the bull-spit.
The Optical compressor works very nicely though! It compresses accurately, without boosting the mids too much. I definitely found it useful for pop/slap work.
Overall it's a good dry amp, but I will probably return it for the Mosfet powered version, as it may actually have better warmth.
BTW: Don't bother thinking you can over-drive this to get nice distortion out of it. it's TERRIBLE sounding! I get better over-driven sounds from my little Fender Rumble 100 (no joke).

bugera bass head"​

this product did not work out for me after 2 weeks playing gigs with the amp begin clipping and my sound was going in and out so after trying 2 different bass heads i just decided to return it.
