Bugera Veyron BV1001M gig review

Not really. But for the record, the only SVT i have used was one of the 300 watt tube ones on an 8x10 (belonged to a friend who let me use it at the practice space we shared) I never really liked the sound of that rig.
Hi! I'm new to this site!
I already enjoy the good post/ replies.
Well, I just ordered my Burgera Veyron(m).
I purchased the Burger a "15 kick back a year ago or so.
I feel more confident with my purchase of my new Veyron(m) just shipped out today from Mucisian's Friend.
A year ago I would have never thought I would buy something I had no clue of how it would sound and/or hold up?
But after reading it was a 1000/2000watt amp, I was curious. For the low price I could not pass it up.
I also read that they use Turbosound speakers which are world class production type speakers. German made but I am guessing Japan electronics.
After playing through the Burgera15" kick back, I was really impressed with the quality sound and pretty good power output.
But I have no way to measure the true RMS but It holds it's own for small as it is.
As for as comparing apples to oranges,
In 1981 I made my first loan to buy my first bass amp.
Fender Bassman tube 300watt tube 15" combo. $1200.
I played it for years with a 68 Fender P bass.
I never played through anything else.
I was happy with the sound. I didn't realize I had a dam good set up. I always got compliments playing in garage bands.
Well a few years later I played through a Peavey 300 combo solid state 15"cab.
In all honesty I thought the sound was cheap and sucked which I have a good ear for tone.
To me it was like going from a cherry to a lemon.
I eventually got bitten by the new equipment bug and bought a Peavey powered head 1810 cabs. I could run 2ohms and multiple cab/ combinations. The sound seemed to grow on me since it seemed a lot of bassist swore on them.
Later I tried GK RB head/4ohm SVT410 cab .
I was sold on the sound but the amp crapped out on me on a gig.
The new amp was only 3 months old.
I wasn't impressed.
On yesterday's outdoor shows, I played through an EDEN 210XST (8 ohm) and an AGUILAR GS 115 (8 ohm). I know that there is a sharp division between opinions on mixing of cabs. I DO have another EDEN 210XST (8 ohm) that I sometimes use to give me 4-10's. However, this combination (maybe the particular brand of cabs?) work really well together. As I stated in the previous posting.....as a reference, I played the first 1 hour show with my EDEN WT800 in bridged mode (1100 watts into 4 ohms) I have the tone controls flat or within 1 or 2 clicks to the right of center and the enhance at about 10:00. The 2nd and 3rd shows I played yesterday, I used the BURGERA VEYRON M. To come very close to the EDEN sound, I had the 15db pad pushed, my gain at about 1 o'clock. (I was playing an Fender AM Deluxe J Bass -5 string and the new Sire Marcus Miller v7 basses)... The ultra low switch depressed, bass at about 2'oclock, mid at about 11 o'clock position and the treble at about 12 o'clock position. I did NOT have the ultra high button depressed and finally.....The Master at about 10 o'clock position. It was equal or greater volume without compression, to my EDEN WT800 volume at similar position on gain and master. I COULD HAVE turned the master higher and gotten louder, but I was already as loud as I play for outdoor shows (pretty loud)...Now keep in mind, the show I was playing is a BEACH BOY TRIBUTE band and not heavy metal, etc... I work with several bands in the Phoenix area, but this one gets the most bookings. I have a church gig this morning and it is low to moderate volume playing levels. I keep a bass rig at the church (EDEN 410 cab and EDEN WT400) the cabinet is an 8 ohm, so ANY amplifier will only give about 50% of it's potential output due to a higher impedance load. It will be interesting to hear how it sounds in this different setting today. So far, I have given my thumbs up to another bass player in the Phoenix area that was about to buy a CARVIN BX1500 that will cost a slight bit more, and he has now decided to get the BUGERA. I guess he respects my opinion :bassist: BTW, I ALSO have a CARVIN BX1500 and it really is a great amp too. (Along with my other 4 EDEN amps.....I must see a psychiatrist about this problem!)
Awesome! I run my Burgera 15" combo with the same basic settings you posted.
I feel better about the recent purchase of the Veyron (M) amp head after reading your post.
It should be coming in soon! I've been tired of lugging my PeaveyMax700 head around.
I have different 4ohm cabs to try it on. 2-10, 4-10, 8-10 and Ampeg 15"
Thanks man!

Personally, I keep the master at full and adjust the gain accordingly, to give me the full potential of sound quality without clipping.
I am impressed with this little amp.
The built in dual compressor really keeps it tamed.

I recently jammed with a couple of musicians at a music theater. The guitarist was playing through a 4-12/Messa head.
I used my Veyron M with a 8-10 acoustic cab.
Both his and my Veyron's amp's gain was set only at #2 (8:o'clock). The sound guy in the audience said it was loud enough without the PA.
I always keep a spare amp but if the amp holds up for at least 5 years, I will be sold on this little amp. Can't complain so far.

Just would like to update everyone to let you know I ended up selling off all the Bugera stuff. @S-Bigbottom sadly my original shine for the Bugera stuff didn't bear out in actual use. I eventually moved to Gallien Krueger and Eden cabs and have never been happier.

I doubt I'll use Bugera or Behringer gear again anytime in the future. After a lot of thread discussions, although their stuff is well made, I'm put off by the misdirection they use in rating watts and actual power output.

Ok, I'm confused. Their stuff is well made. It may not be your cup of tea tone wise but performs well. Even with that the thing that makes you feel that you can't go with the products is the manner that they choose to rate the specifications of their products. Got it. Glad you are happy with what you're using now....

To be honest, I tried and gave Bugera a chance and all the gear I bought was brand new out of the box. But switching to Gallien Krueger, stuff that was half the quoted power, was much punchier and louder. I'm referring to the Veyron vs. the MB500. And yes, I'm much happier with the punchy tone I get from GK. And yes you're right-- Bugera stuff is well built. I was getting a bit sanctimonious about power rating, it's actually been quite a topic lately here on TB. The kids who use my old Bugera stuff in church like it and it will probably last them through generations.

Brother, I get it. You tried it and it wasn't for you. Nothing wrong with that at all. You & I have even communicated privately regarding your decision to go in a different direction. I respect your choice. I guess that I was being a little sanctimonious as well with my response.

Let me explain. You have said several times in various threads that the Bugera options don't work for you. I say again, I get it and there is nothing wrong with that. How many different ways do you need to say that it is not to your liking?

Looks like I found an old thread, but can you say the wattage of your speaker setup? Total? I am looking at getting the 2x10 1000W cab Bugera makes to use with the tube Veyron. Looking at the specs of the cab, they say 250W cont and 1000 W peak.
Just curious.
In my experience, manufacturers always list the 4 ohm power output of the amps and you have to dig a little to find the 8 ohm performance (I assume that it will run 1000W at 8 ohms). Though I am inclined to run the thing with a 4 ohm load just to get 2000 watts out of it, the cab I am looking at does not show it impedance.

Used the new Veyron at last night gig. Attached to my power hungry Acoustic 2x15 (no tweeter) cab loaded with two 350 watt speakers (it is a 4 Ohm cab). Playing my also recently purchased Squier Cabronita bass. Also had my Fender Mutt P/J bass with the active Barts. The output of the Mutt is so hot it easily had clip light blinking on the Veyron, where the Cabronita pickup is very low output and let me really run up the gain on the amp.

The combination of the Cabronita, Veyron and 2x15 cab resulted in a big fat old school sound that sat right in the mix with two guitars.

Apologies, my reading skills were broken apparently. I see you say two 350 W speaks at 4 ohms. Thanks. Anywho...good s*** still?

Mike - be sure you understand what the rating numbers mean and the specific metrics used when comparing power ratings between amps and speakers.

I have never seen a 2x10 that could handle 1000 watts peak or program... I would take the specs on that 2x10 with a grain or dump truck load of salt...
Fishheadjoe
Note that 1000 watts peak is by industry standards only 250 watts "RMS", so there are in fact plenty of cabinets in this range. This is why I mentioned understanding what the numbers mean and the metrics used.

I can't answer this question on the amp, but the speaker is pretty clearly stated as 250/500/1000 (continuous/program/peak).

You just need to determine (if possible) the exact metrics.

I generally recommend approximately matching the speaker the the "RMS" or "continuous" amplifier power (at the appropriate impedance). This would indicate an amp in the 250-350 watt (RMS) range.

Gotcha...also, I didn't see the 500 in whatever documents I have found online for the BT210TS.
I did, however, find this.
Invalid Link Removed
Which is different than what I found elsewhere, so I have gotten two different numbers regarding handling of this cab.
One document showed it at 250 W continuous, while this one linked here shows 400 W continuous @ 8 ohms.
Bottom line, Mr Horse, would you expect a Veyron described as a 2000W head (lets assume that's at 4 Ohms, so roughly 1000 W @ 8 ohms) to be too much for a 400 W continuous, 1000 W peak (8 ohms) cabinet? Sounds reasonable to me, unless I broke it down completely wrong.

In your experience, should I look at the 2000 W of the amp and assume that I can safely drive a 8 ohm cab continuously at 500 W and a 4 ohm cab continuously at 1000 W?

Or am I just thinking about this wrong?

Of course I would not be asking any of this if I could simply find more descriptive power ratings of the Veyron somewhere.

I don't know how your head is measured, and as you have discovered there's no information (easily) available. Sorry.
