Bugera Veyron Now Available

I'm also curious about any noticeable fan noise.

Also, does anyone have some more information on the tone of the M that they are willing to provide? More specifically, are there any amps out there now that would be considered in the same camp tonewise? Is the tone of the M more naturally compressed or more open? I also saw where it was described as aggressive and bitey...so are we talking similar to a GK or is it more tame than that?

I'm in the market for a new head in this price range. I always go back to GK amps because they sound the way I want them to. So I'm trying to see if the Veyron M would be similar or if I should go with the MB500...both are the same price.

I always run mine in parallel/y input mode. Was just wondering. I have that same XLS (2500) in a PA setup and was wondering how to get it in Y input mode but full range. I use 2 different power amps in my 2 rack rigs and I have them setup that way but I couldn't figure out how to do it on the XLS. Bridging gives me more power than I need.

I've owned three Drivecores, 1000, 1500 and 2500. Ran all three the same way. Setting them to Y mode/bypass is easy... I can help if you need it.

I'm not a fan of baked in tone and I don't hear it with this amp. Sounds very natural to me.

For that reason I'm not a big GK fan... I've had to tweak them right off the bat to undo what they do to the sound of my basses.

The tone is definitely not compressed.

Thanx man!
This is what the cab looks like with front covers removed, BTW.
Featuring Eminence Sigma Pro speakers (Speaker Detail | Eminence Speaker)
Cab tuning is at 40Hz with 11 cu.ft. overall volume.
-3dB at 40Hz and -10dB at 30hz

Where the 810 is more punchy, in-your-face sounding, the 218 is a bit smoother in the low mids (without being slow, you can still slap the crap out of the cab) but then it can easily shake a whole room.
The 810 is just loud, the 218 releases pressure waves...
You gotta be careful not to become every FoH's nightmare! :D

Weight of the Veyron is 3.0 Kgs, dimensions are 255 x 80 x 300 mm according to Disssa's review in the German forum.
Great job! diggin it!

Ok, I wavered for a little while. I think that I have joined the Veyron M owner's list. Mine should be shipping toward my direction on today. Curious, I just checked the website and could not find an owner's manual. Is there one for the amp?

Looking forward to your opinion of the amp. I'm quite impressed

I'm looking forward to seeing how it will work out with the cabs I plan to pair it with, two Ashdown ABM Mini 408 NEOs (sealed with no tweeters.) I was just going to hang tight with the other stuff that I had until a chance to get those 408s came up. I thought about going for the tube version but after hearing a couple of videos of it, decided that the M would probably be best for what I'm trying to do. Those cabs already have a lot of low end but it's tight, quick and responsive. They still have a lot of brightness to them with the four 8" woofers and the EQ of the M seems to offer controls that would allow me more flexibility than the T.

The Ashdowns are rated at 1000 watts continuous @ 8 ohms. I've got one in house currently and another should be arriving today or tomorrow. Right now I am running the single one with my Peavey Kilobass in bridged mode that has an output at 8 ohms that matches what the cab will handle. Unfortunately, that amp will only do 8 ohms bridged. After seeing how the one cab handled the power the Kilobass threw at it, and that amp has some grunt to it, I knew I needed more power. The Veyron should be here by the end of this week hopefully....

The Veyron gave a fEarful 15/6 quite literally all it could handle. The owner of the cab was VERY impressed with it. He normally ran a BX1500 bridged, or a component rig with some other carvin power amp bridged into the cab. My ONLY concern at all with that amp is reliability. I'll always bring a spare, do anyway.

Unless it's just a terrible pairing, I really can't see myself not being pleased with it. The price was definitely right. Mine was an opened box type deal with the full manufacturer's warranty of 3 years plus I got an additional year from the vendor. No tax, free shipping..... sort of a win, win. Even if I decide that it's not for me, I should be able to avoid taking much of a hit if I have to move it.

The comments provided by you and others has helped to set the right expectations for me. I expect to get a good amp with lots of power and a responsive EQ that doesn't have a heavily colored tone. As long as I get that, I'm good! Anything extra is just a bonus....... :D

Total Power is a marketing variation of peak to peak.
Vrms = 0.3535 * Vpp. 0.3535 x 2000 =707

V? Your Vrms to Vpp is OK but then you put in 2000. You won't find 2000V anywhere in that amp.

As far as watts are concerned, there's only one type of watt and it's calculated using RMS voltage.

ClassD/SMPS amps are normally specified in terms of burst power and there's no universal standard measurement. It just might give you something close to 2000W for as long as the blink of an eye.

Continuous power ratings used to be the norm but are not a realistic measure of what an amp can deliver in the real world.

Why? They should be able to advertise it however they feel best represents the amp's performance...

Ah. The TC gambit. ;) That goes over well.

It has already been very favorably compared to other amps that are a bit north of 700 watts. I'd love to know, but on the other hand, I know it is capable of being louder than I will ever need. That's enough for me.

I don't put much stock in off-the-cuff arm-chair cocktail-napkin calculations, personally. I believe in the reports from owners and tire-kickers, but I'd still love to see a solid tech review of the amp. Is it possibly an amp that has a super small/light high power output unit? Sure that's possible. Is it possibly an amp using some creative compression technology? Maybe. Is it a combination of both of those things? Maybe.

While distinctions are academic, I'd still like to see the details.
