Bugera Veyron Now Available

I know nothing about how T.C. operates and I've never tried any of their amps. I'm just saying if that's how Bugera wants to sell their product, that's how they should be able to sell it. May go over well and it may not. Bugera will have to deal with the consequences of the decision....

Uli came here already to discuss how they rate/market...you may guess the outcome. ;)

Well aware of that and also the outcome. Not going to get deep into what I thought about how it went but I will say that he made sense with a lot of what he said. Even when he did make sense, it wasn't well received. Witch hunt, maybe?

What I really care about is how the amp performs. Specs on paper are nice but are really only an indicator of how the product might be used. It would certainly make it easier for me if Bugera chose to describe everything using the ratings that we are all used to seeing but it's not a deal breaker as long as the amp performs well.

A simple tell on what an amp can do. disconnect the load, hook up an rms voltmeter, and send is a sine wave to get maximum voltage output.
Use ohms law to calculate the theoretical watts.

This simple test can tell if the amp, or any amp is capable of producing the claimed watts. The amp has no way of producing the claimed watts if the voltage isn't there. Peak or otherwise.

Why? They should be able to advertise it however they feel best represents the amp's performance...

"I feel like our amp puts out something approximating One Million Jigawats."
Mokay.

Watts are an empirically measurable thing. No need to market "feelings" when it comes to that.

Wouldn't it need some sort of (dummy) load to do this?

No load actually needed. After you get the volts you'll put that into ohms law along an impedance/resistance value.

Search for an Ohm's law calculator
Here's one:
Online Conversion - Ohm's Law Calculator

Say the measured voltage is 90V
Put in a resistance value of 4 ohms
Calculate the power.

If the amp doesn't put out the voltage into no load, there is no way it will into a real load.

I got it yesterday and put it through the paces in my basement and I am really impressed. Feels good, looks good, and sounds good. I played all of my basses through this amp and each one had a distinct sound. The differences in the basses really stood out. This is a very clean sounding amp that amplifies what you put in. There is some tone sculpting there but it just enhances what you give it. And it is very loud. This amp carries a heft and punch with the notes that comes from headroom.

That's great news! Mine should also be arriving tomorrow. However, it was a "demo" item. The salesman at Sweetwater.com said the previous customer only had it for one week *cross your fingers*

I just had to clean up a little in here. If your post got deleted, it was probably just part of a conversation that was getting a little awkward.

Please don't ask our commercial users to comment in any way on products offered by other manufacturers - that really puts them in a difficult position. They're not allowed to answer questions like that as it can cause conflict of interest issues. Thanks guys.
