Bugera Veyron Now Available

Cool. 1,000w seems reasonable for what I'm hearing. Maybe more. I was also interested in the Trickfish with the Pope preamp. Not so much anymore.

Thanks for the help.
;)

I'd love for someone get their act together and build a one-rack space two channel power unit with this technology, although I understand that most of these are somehow already a bridge formation, so maybe that's unreasonable. A one-space rack power amp of this power paired with your choice of one or two space SS or Tube preamp in a rack bag would be a wonderful thing.

Also, to me the Peavey might still be the one to watch due to their implementation of DSP Maxxbass-like technology. Then you can have your super-mini lightweight cab setup and still have as much bass as you perceive from a full sized rig. Seriously wave of the future stuff.

I've pretty much given up on that.

And that's why I'll be checking one out whenever they get here.

I love the preamps I have too much to give up on them, and I hate the 'ad-hock'ness of running rack gear with 'stand alone' stuff out of my own personal uptightedness. My soon to be IPR2-3K-DSP will not only have 5 band programmable parametric, but also Maxxbass, limiters and a variety of HPF and crossovers to choose from. :) And from 'testing' with a factory new IPR2-3K non DSP unit, they're built better and sound better than the original series. I guess I can live with a two space. :P

Maybe someone will get the smart idea of the 'micro-rack' one of these minutes and market it successfully. Half sized power amps, preamps, etc. that will look just right on micro-cabs. And with DSP the 'light-low-loud-small' thing could become a reality.

I've been looking for that for years. I wanted to do a half rack with my Mitre Box and a heavier duty power amp section for years. It just got old hearing that they weren't being developed because the ones that didn't exist wouldn't sell well.
:hmm:

Might finally be a moot point for me. I like the way this front end doesn't sound.
:D

A friend brought a new friend over to the Brubaker shop yesterday to check out some basses and guitar. So I brought my amp in along with my little BBC Tank 1012 cab. When the new friend decided to check out a guitar I ran him through the Bugera and Tank 1012. I never really understood what guitarists look for finally I waited to get his impression. I know what I like and this setup seemed to not only have great clean sounds, that was with the Master at around 8 o'clock. There didn't seem to be a limit on how loud it would get.

All of the basses sounded amazing but the most fun ones might've been the resurrected "Countertop bass" which now sports a passive Aguilar soapbar setup and a Brute modded with an Aguilar MM/J setup.

Hey Brad, how do you run that rack rig? Do you bridge or parallel/input Y?

Bridged, using a banana to Speakon cable I made. 1500w @ 4 ohms.

If you're going to run a 2 ohm load I'd recommend running it Y-input two channel mode.

The Veyron seems to be at least as powerful. I had both setups running most of the day yesterday. Rack into a Tank 1215, Bugera into the 1012. Still can't find anything not to like about the Bugera. In fact the midrange centers worked great with guitar. Did a slight cut and then swept through the centers. Not a bad sound in the bunch.

The low bass switch cleared up the low end in a usable way and the high boost added a crispness that wasn't harsh or annoying.

I always run mine in parallel/y input mode. Was just wondering. I have that same XLS (2500) in a PA setup and was wondering how to get it in Y input mode but full range. I use 2 different power amps in my 2 rack rigs and I have them setup that way but I couldn't figure out how to do it on the XLS. Bridging gives me more power than I need.
