Bugera Veyron Now Available

I went to look for the review Uli linked and apparently the thread is gone and Uli's profile only shows two posts. So much of what has been said about the amp is gone. But from what I gathered from the cryptic and defensive posts is that it will be somewhere in the power range of the mb500, th500, stm600, pf500, lm500... that is to say, what we've come know as the typical 500watt micro.

I did find some bench test reviews for inukes (that were not linked by Uli) that state they do provide rms numbers in the manuals that are less than the "inflated advertised figures" (not my words). Here's one that puts the 6000 within a reasonable distance of the rms numbers.Invalid Link Removed

I had a long conversation with some Peavey people about this - they're trying hard to honest with their ratings, but they're getting stung by everyone else and their so-called 2000W amps. They're trying to do the right thing with their specification lists, but it's making it look like their amps are 'weak' in comparison. It's a huge problem in the industry, and there needs to be a better standard - or at least a campaign to educate musicians about the dubious nature of these power ratings.

I asked Uli on various ocasions if it was possible for them to list the "old fashioned" specs (as he called them) as well as their "super" specs, but he chose to ignore me on each ocasion.

Could be it's entirely possible that Bugera is able to make an amp at this price point with the stated power and good sound.
I would think that since they have a lot of people, they could actually listen to their own amps and competitors and know what sounds good.

Could be they're using their own patented technology power inverter and amplifier technology to get extra power.

Bugera has been making tube pre-amp parts in guitar and bass amps for years.
High Voltage Mosfet pre-amps is something I haven't seen from other amp makers. I don't know that it matters, or if it's just some marketing gimmick. We'll see.

Or it could just be the same ol' marketing shell game.

I tend to apply Occam's razor.

Uli already said that they don't test the power in the same way as other manufacturers, as that is out of date. So basically, yes, it is 2000W, determined by the Behringer test bench.

Other manufacturers don't test power in the same way as each other. There's been a few controversial post when BGM does one of their bench tests with BGM standards that conflict with the manufacturer's published results state.

We'll see.

Meh, the Veyron is old news. I'm holding out for the Harbinger One:1.

I just downloaded the PDF from the website. The Harbinger manual is designed in the IDENTICAL format as Behringer. Are they somehow connected?

Do we know the voltage? I'd bet my 1001RB that the MOSFETs in it run at a higher voltage than the MOSFETs in the Veyron.

I just looked up the specs on the Veyron, I think the Bugera is going to have some power handling issues. The base Veyron puts out 746,000 Watts (metric substitute for horsepower.) Even if the Car Stereo type Watt power handling spec is correct on the Bugera, that still leaves the BN115TS 744,000 watts short of the power generated by its almost namesake the Bugatti. Maybe if Pirelli made woofers... I think Richard Hammond from Top Gear plays bass, it would be nice if he were here to chime in.

Standard (Coupe), Grand Sport (Roadster):

8.0 L (488 cu in) W16 quad-turbocharged 1,014 PS (746 kW; 1,000 bhp)[2]
Super Sport (Coupe), Grand Sport Vitesse (Roadster):
1,200 PS (883 kW; 1,184 bhp)

I noticed earlier this afternoon that the tube preamp version has sold out as well at Sweetwater . Got my tracking info, delivery estimated for next Wednesday (probably while i am on the plane) I may be unpacking this from the box at the club next Saturday. I'm going to need to get another speaker cable this weekend for this amp, none of my others will work with this amp and the Acoustic cab...
