Actually sir, you ARE correct. The name Harbinger was originally a name for very high end PA equipment manufactured out of California. The original owner sold the company to a larger corporation and the corporation immediately halted American production and moved it overseas to Asia. The name Harbinger was at one time very respected in the PA world, now it's like Guitar Center's Acoustic amp. It is in name only and doesn't resemble the high end stuff at all. So the name Harbinger is no play on the name Behringer.
Also interesting to note is that Mackie is also no longer built in Washington state. Most of the components are built out of Behringer City in China. If you look through the powered cabinet selection, you'll find striking similarities between Mackie and Behringer powered speakers. I believe they are knowledge sharing.
Turbosound is a tremendously successful PA systems company out of the UK, they are pioneers in 21st century PA development research and technology. Very highly regarded. It's a tremendous score for Behringer to be able to partner with such a professional sound company.
I believe much of this Class-D technology is being researched and developed out of China. It appears there are actually less and less big players and more consolidation going on in both the sound and amplification world.
Sad that we can build the best stealth aircraft, tanks, and high tech combat gear in the world, but most of our musical equipment is built in Asia.
