Build #2: Fretless Headless 5

I have my own theory on that one, I strung it up, went for the "harmonic" hot spots and centered them to those spots. Somewhere around the "28 fret" spot and the second harmonic, position past the witness point of the bridge. Although, those spots are only there with open strings, they move when you move positions on the fingerboard. It could be a crackpot theory, but all my basses are layed out similar.

Thanks guys. I've also decided to adopt this shape as the "Super Jay".

I did a spot check on the entire thing, to make sure that there no dings, etc.

Tung oiled the back again after that.

Very Nice. Whish I could play lefty.
Mabey I could. I mean I write with my left hand, I'm shure I can play lefty.

ha ha...me too. i'm mostly ambidextrous, but definitely predominantly a lefty (probably just a lefty living in a righty world) - and when i started out, i just learned to play righty because it was more convenient. was tough in the beginning, but now couldn't imagine it any other way...

but i digress...dang what an amazing build!

Alright, I bucked up and put some sound clips up.
Wired up everything, except it's 9v instead of 18v, that'll come later. Let me know if the clips are null and void (Putfile's site was down, I tried another site)

Variable settings:

Flat > bridge > neck

Treble Maxed > both pups

Bass maxed > both pups

Mid maxed > can't remember if low mid or high mid is first (or vice versa).

Multi track with different parts, differently eq'ed, and horrible intonation ;)

Last pics before the final ones, which will be done, once it's stripped down and clear coated.

No more until it's finally 100% complete........

very nice! I'm quite impressed...

the finish is really stunning...

my only complaint is that the battery is in an odd place...but if it's not causing you any issues...

oh and yeah...stop playing lefty already...it stopped Macca from getting gigs ya know...:D

Actually, that's just the base finish (Poly), the real one is coming (Acrylic).

Yeah, no issues with the battery, but there'll be an additional one also, I'll need to consider whether to relocate or not.

Lefty? I was born like this, at least that's my story and I'm sticking to it ;)

awesome...

I know all about being lefty, Jason. But I play righty...macca told me to ;) :D
