Lets also keep in mind that this was a TRADE, right?
I don't know about "all" responsibility. What if he had planted drugs on it, or if it was stolen?
But he's certainly absolved of responsibility for things that would show up when a buyer inspects a bass, as Jared did.
Also, maybe even if session sold it, there's a little bit of leeway there. What if someone was doing a 3 way trade, and ships a bass out as soon as it comes in the mail?
Again, 15 minutes, do an eye check on the neck, pull up pics. Everything match? Next plug it in, sound right?
In the end it's your fault for not checking and calling the original seller on it, five weeks later is never going to cut it.

That's a different story, that doesn't involve five weeks of ownership after the trade during which the new owner didn't inspect the bass.
I'm willing to give Seabassman the benefit of the doubt and even say that he didn't know about the additional drill holes were there because I didn't either. Intentional or not isn't the issue. The fact it was discovered that it wasn't a fair trade should be the issue. Hence the title of my post. I didn't take it to my luthier. I got lazy.

I always do this. I can tell right away if a neck is bad or if it can be simply adjusted with the truss rod

There is no recourse through TB for a deal gone bad except the feedback system, and, apparently, starting a thread badmouthing the seller.
Unfortunately, in this case, other innocent members are also getting tarnished...
I mis spoke. I meant five weeks for seabass to trade back. That's why I deleted the post but you got to it quick. So the question is how long would be too long for seabass.
For a trade I'd say a week. But that's me.
Hey, fact is I had chalked it up to a lesson after contacting Seabassman about the issues that were discovered. When I saw the bass up for trade, I got ticked off because , morally, he should trade me back. Period.
You still haven't mentioned how the $600 worth of upgrades seabass added factors into it. Did you offer to trade back, and give him $500 ($600 - the $100 he was supposed to include?)
I understand that you think he should trade you back, but what's he supposed to do about that? The bass you traded him is not the same bass it once was.
Well, the upgrades he claims to have made aren't mentioned in his new ad to trade the very same bass, either.
neither was the pickup cover that went through 3 or more owners without even a picture of it.
well I can't find any post of him trying to trade your bass, so I don't really know whats in it. And you still didn't answer my question. Lets assume that he did put $600 of upgrades in it, what was your plan for trading?
It was because he's made no mention of any upgrades in his ad as to why I feel he should trade me back.
