Buzzard's Bass - DO NOT to business with him!!!

So I bought an allparts jazz body from this guy on eBay last week. It was a candy apple orange color according to allparts.
Before I put a bid on it I asked him if this is the same color as fenders candy tangerine. He said "as far as I know this is the color"
So I purchased it, he ordered the body and received it and sent me photos of it because the color did not match the stock photo or even close to candy tangerine.
I already paid for the item 4-5 days ago on eBay. Body was purchased on a sat or Sunday evening and he received it thurs or fri? Not sure of details but we can find that out later.
Either way I told him it is what it is. It was an eBay auction and I had to take it since I already paid.
He shipped it over and when I opened it I saw damaged to the upper horn. I emailed him and sent over photos as he asked for it.
This is when hell broke loose. I tried to give him options on way to resolve this because I went through this before selling an item. I ended up refunding partial amount of the sale to compensate for damages.
He told me to return it but he wouldn't be able to refund me until the claim with USPS was done with. I know claiming it through them would take weeks if not months.
We exchanged many emails on way to resolve it and he never gave me a clear answer on what he planned on doing.
I got impatient and filed a claim through eBay because I did not want this to get blown away by time. I did not have time to wait in him and work around his schedule.
We still have the claim up but man is he pissed! He even wrote an essay about me and copy and pasted most of our emails on his web page.

Check it out!!

Now he thinks I intentionally damaged it because I did not like the color...
I have bought, sold, and traded with many of you guys here and I'm not the person to do that kinda stuff.
I have yet to receive a return shipping label and a refund. He refuses to take the item back now stating I did the damage.

Sorry about the rant. Just be careful who you deal with. I should've done some research on him here...

He's a special one indeed.

I felt bad for him in the beginning because I know you don't make much selling items on eBay and I wanted to make sure everything was fair but more more emails I received from him the nastier it got and still no resolution.

He got really pissed when I opened a case with eBay! I can't wait till this is over with. I don't even feel like building this jazz bass now.
I had everything ready from a geddy neck, custom shop jazz pickups, badass bridge, black pickguard, and sadowsky pre but I may go another route now that he put a bad taste in my mouth.

I've heard only bad things about that buzzard...

& Why does ebay let sellers list items they do not have in their possession?

Not to side with one or the other but I'm looking at his feedback on Ebay and other than one negative comment more than a year ago, he's gotten good feedback for the past year. If people had bad experiences with him, are they not posting it? Just curious and also wondering because if what you're saying is true, and he's a difficult person to deal with then I'd like to see that reflected in his feedback rating - I use that rating considerably to determine whether to do business with a seller on ebay. Sometimes I would forgo a lower price if the dealer has a lower feedback rating and some negative responses compared to others.

Why.. even though he thinks he's right.. would he put a negative experience like that on his website, and in such detail too? Talk about airing your dirty landry in public! Stay classy Buzz.
That I agree is pretty unnecessary and bad for business... if I were buying directly from his website, I'd be turning around and looking elsewhere, that rant of his should be on his facebook page or something he'd discuss with perhaps a psychiatrist ,wife or personal friend just not on a public site representing his business, just my opinion.
I think I have bought a few things from him through Ebay and haven't had any problems.

Wow; I just read all of Buzzard's rant........ wow; just speechless I guess. I feel for you JonKim. Honestly makes me never want to sell or buy anywhere but Talkbass ever again. About the only thing I buy now on Ebay is small stuff I can't get on here but I ALWAYS look here first AND check with Jason at BASSSTRINGSONLINE to see if he can get it for me. Then if I can't get it, I go to Ebay, where I have a few certain dealers I trust and deal with over and over. Keep it nice and smooth as possible.
Hope it ends well for you JonKim!!!

There are little tricks that let you avoid negative feedback. I had a seller try to cancel the transaction when I requested a return (after they'd tried to move the conversation off eBay - thank god they don't let you exchange email addresses.) but, if I had, I wouldn't have been able to leave negative feedback. Thankfully everything worked out for me in the end (a lot of it boiled down to a pretty sever language barrier) but I'm sure there are all kinds of way to preserve your rating. There's always a way.

so ... was the body in the original thin foam envelope and did it have two more layers of bubble wrap around it?

If you look carefully at the pictures I sent him the bass is wrapped in that thin layer of foam and that is all the bubble wrap that was in the box.
I believe he shipped what was sent to him directly from allparts.
I was trying to show him that there was a lack of cushion on the inside and the bass was moving around in the box.
I tried to keep all communication via eBay to protect myself and he got really mad when I didn't email him directly. We have over 40+ emails that went back and forth and more on eBay after I opened the case.

Trust me I will put a negative feedback on him soon.

:rollno: The guy is completely mad. I purchased parts from him a while back. It was a painful experience and I was treated like a moron. He really needs to take a class on how to treat customers. You don't grill someone who's ready to hand you money.

Never again!
