Double Bass Bye bye bow quiver - hello Arcohook!

I had not heard the term "drive by". I guess it must be a hidden commercial...or?
Sorry! I am not an native English speaker.

I live in a commune, where we have all kinds of tools, machinery and parts lying around. After reading Chuck Traegers repair manual I was inspired to avoid damping the bass with my bow quiver (I too notice quit a difference with the BQ off). I bent a steel rod into a shape that fits the bass and now acts as a mount for the bow quiver. It works great.

This September I started a blog to share my experience and ideas about BASS. You are welcome to check it out: http://bassolution.blogspot.dk/
I am not selling anything!!!!! :)

I do own a company however. But it has nothing to do with accessories for bass. I produce weird music on vinyl and am sound engineer on acoustic recordings - mainly jazz.

I stopped using a quiver a few years ago as I like the response of my basses better without. A music stand, chair or table work for me.

The best thing about the quiver to me is its safety. I don't have to worry about dropping or breaking my bow.
I'm sure it interferes with the sound , but it's negligible with modern amplification. I don't see how I still have the same bow after years of keeping it slanted between the bridge legs. Come to think of it, that method probably affects the sound, too.

I've been using the Arco Clip Hook for several weeks and it's serving me well. The thing is quite brilliant in its functional simplicity and portability. Using it as a pocket clip replaces any quick-draw need a quiver has served in the past. As some point I might make a simple clamp addition to allow it to attach to vertical supports like mic stands and thicker supports like a stool seat. Redesigning the whole thing with a wider more secure clamp and replacing the single axis zap strap hinge with a two axis ball joint is a thought......I can draft it and have access to the shop to build it. The thing works pretty well as is though and whether or not I ever get around to a redesign is another story. As a pocket clip I don't think the original design can be improved on.
