Cab choice.

I'm in a band that plays surf music and also jam with guys that play classic rock. Until recently i have been using my SWR 12 combo but now that we are starting to do some gigs i want to buy a cab for the Shuttle 6 i have. I'm really having a hard time deciding on a 212 or a 410. What tone differences can i expect from these two types of cabs?

If you like the tone from your combo, I'd stick w/12's. I've been gigging 2-12's for a while now, and that's w/no mid/tweeter. Awesome tone. I would think 2-12's stacked vertically would sound better than 4-10's in the standard configuration.

A 410 will generally put out more volume than a 212, but I much prefer a 212. I've had a few, and by far, the best sounding one I've ever heard was the Genz Benz Uber 212, which, btw, would pair up with your shuttle head nicely.

I run my Shuttle into an Avatar 410 and love the sound of it. That said, I'd expect a Genz Neox212 paired with a Shuttle would be a very magnificent thing to hear.

try a pair of the Bergantino EX112ERs. They rock!
I have one that i feed 300 watts and I play rock, jazz, afrobeat and folk with.

Thanks for the info guys. I was thinking of going with Avatar as the price seems to be about my budget and it has good feedback from this site. I don't need to be loud as i don't expect to play large venues so maybe the 212 is the right choice.
