Calling all ACG filter preamp users!

Gut shot.

Did a recording session last week, some live work this week. LOVING the ACG pre and the sounds that I'm getting. Thanks again @Skelf and @John East

It's a great preamp. I put one in a Suhr era Fender JV and it slays. I wrote a review about it somewhere in this forum.

It was mind boggling at first (so many combos and so sensitive!) but every time I go back to it it gets easier and easier to dial in. I think I have it where I really understand it now.

Your recording sounds great as does your playing. Thanks for sharing!

Sign me up!

EQ01-5K on the way.

I'll probably have to do a bit of routing and come up with a larger control plate to fit it, but that's fine.
Ooh - fret less, Q-tuners, and ACG! Post some sound samples when you get it all set up!

I had this setup a long time ago in my Modulus Q6, and it worked fine. Sounded very nice.
I have the EQ01 in a Spector with 35 DC’s. It’s dead quite and the range of tones is incredible. I’ve read in other places that the Emg DCX which is what I have can be to brittle sounding. Not with the ACG eq01. Not unless you want it too. You can go from bright and crunchy all the way to thick bass and anywhere in between. Takes a while to get use to. Small adjustments is the key to finding what you want.

Almost done with the wood & plastic work, I'm getting ready to shield it, wire it up and start playing it.

Couple of probably basic questions/verification...

acg-eq01-main%20board-connections.jpg

I'm guessing that connections #2 & #4 are only needed without the filter boards, no?

Prior pix indicate that they are not used.

I should run the ground from the output jack to a ground lug attached to the shielding and then to #5?

I'm also grounding the bridge to the ground lug. Should be no problem...

TIA

Edit: I figured it out...

hmmm I may need to put together another bass...
I went with the "new way" wiring since my bass is a mahogany core with a koa top - I wanted that Wal bite and it came out perfectly. I found that when I paired other pickups to the ACG, I didn't get as much high end as I would have wanted but now I don't have that issue.

Bass with old pickups, but the ACG preamp:

I would like to try the EQ01 / Rautia Multi coil option in a bass but what he says of his pickup is "Great pickup for producing a "middish nasal" sound.".. Doesn't sound that great to me. I also wonder about the summing of each of the coils in these multi coils (Bassculture too). It seems that with the proven ones like the Wal and ACG MC series sum the coils actively rather than just wiring all the coils in series etc.
