Well, the volume knob does rotate counter clockwise quite nicely. ;)

I do like the idea of using a bag like that, but your pictures confirm what I thought would be my biggest issue - there's a little too much room inside and therefore it could move around. Not a big deal if you are careful with it, but I expect mine to take some abuse... I'm sure you can find a bag that fits tightly though with some searching (in fact I've heard of people who have). You're very much correct that all the extra pockets on these bags are nice for music/cables/etc.

Mooradian, the company that makes the Walter Woods bags, would make a nice padded bag to the exact dimensions. They aren't cheap, since they are a somewhat custom shop (my guess is, it would probably cost the same as the Markbass bag). However, that's a good option. You just call them on the phone and give them the dimensions of the amp, and about 10 days later, the finished product arrives.

The positives: Exact fit, large pocket for cables, etc., thick, heavy duty shoulder strap and hardware, extremely high quality.

The negative: While padded, it's not heavy duty padding... if you drop the amp while in the bag, it would not be a good thing. However, if you always shlep your own gear these bags are great.


The Markbass bag looks cool... I wonder if their bag is custom fit to the LMII, or if it's just a general sized bag?

Yes, it is a custom fit!

Markbass manufacture custom-fit bags for both sizes of head (the smaller, "Little Mark" size and the larger, SD/TA range). The bags even have little flaps that "Velcro" shut and allow you to plug the cables through the back, without taking the head out of it's bag!

Sounds great in theory, but ultimatley it's pretty futile, since the polyester bag would just slide around on the top of any cabinet (:hmm: unless it too is "Velcro'd" to the furry cab?)

Also, the price for the small one is 120 Euros :eek: !!!

That's just f****n' insane! It's 100 Euros more than my laptop bag cost and it has no more padding (and a lot less room for beer ;) ).

OK, enough preaching! I actually hope that Markbass sell a lot of these bags, as Marco deserves to be a millionaire (IMHO). Here's how it looks:

Looks more like a backpack. Does it have a shoulder strap too? I'd rather wear my bass backpack style since it is heavier.:)

I don't have one, but it would seem you are right about the vents and the bag sliding. As marvelous an invention as velcro is, it gives out over time. I like things with less moving parts to go wrong. (Not saying they will, just my 2 centavos.)

The truth is, Jeff, that the amp is so light (at 6lbs), that it doesn't actually need a lot of protection from itself! It's not like carrying an Ampeg (for example) in a bigger bag. Just the pressure of a couple of Speakon cables, wedged down either side of it, is enough to stop it from coming to any harm.

Unless you plan to drive a car over it, I think that a well padded laptop bag will provide roughly comparable protection to the "official" bag (for those on a budget, at least).

Only two days ago, mine slipped off my shoulder, whilst I was carrying it and two basses up 5 flights of stairs. The amp hit the edge of the concrete staircase with something of a bump, but because the contents were so light, there was no hint of any damage to either amp or bag.

(:hmm: Am I going to get sued for this)?

Yo, jmain! You just hit the nail on the head there, for me. Despite what I just posted about my "laptop" bag falling off my shoulder, I'd prefer one shoulder strap because I'm always carrying a bass gig-bag on my back these days (and sometimes, a lightweight cab in one hand).

That's the unexpected bonus with this Markbass gear - you really can carry enough gear for a small gig in one trip (bass on back, amp over one shoulder and cab/s in hand/s)!

God, we're so lucky these days! ;)

That does seem a little 'overdesigned'! Also the backpack straps make no sense, since anyone who is into the ultra light type head would surely have a gig back for their base with 'backpack' straps. Strange.

Looks like it's the Mooradian route for me if I end up liking the head.

I've been carrying mine around in an old backpack, which works fine but it can shift around and I'd like to get something eventually that can hold it in one place and keep it padded and protected. I'd like to see what the Clubbass guys come up with...the Markbass bag is nice, but I can't justify spending $140+ on just a BAG for my amp, especially when the amp only cost 4.3 times that.

:hmm: Well, to be honest, I only looked on a couple of websites for prices and I thought that the currency I was looking at was Euros. Now, I realise that it was Finnish Markkaa :rollno: . Doh! :(
