Calling all Little Mark II owners.

NOTE: I just returned my obviously used/abused LM II to GC today. Wouldn't put it past them to repackage it and send it out to someone. The master knob is completely tweeked/non-functioning.

Both the manager and salesman at GC have told me to abuse the floormodel I have as much as I want and then swap it for a new one IF that ever comes in. They know they are going to sell the old one for full price as they've already made it very clear there is no discounting for used, yet they encourage me to abuse the one I have? That's just stupid.

But to whoever is going to buy my old one as new once I return it, don't worry, I'm babying it like it was the new one I paid for.

Glad you're enjoying this amp! I'm interested to see how your impressions unfold as you use it more. I too really have come to enjoy it, even though its much different than the other amps I've played. It really has a usable tonal range and find myself having to do much less knob adjusting to get great sounds out of it.

Yep- will keep U guys posted. I boosted the lower mids about 1/2 way thru gig,as I had the VPF up near 2/3....Gave a nice rich tone. I was happy with the amp thru out gig.

Little Mark II and a Standard 104HF cab. Was very nearly tempted by all this Epi and Aggy talk but after hearing very good things about Markbass cabs (and the fact that I think it'll look much better sticking with the colour scheme!) decided to give them a chance.

Hey y'all, anyone use the DI out yet? I just played a gig where I was going out of the DI in to the house. We had to switch it over to micing the cab for the second set because my sound had a lot of buzz out of the DI (J bass with singlecoils but I couldn't hear it through my speaker on stage) and then at the end of the first set the DI out started to break up or something...the sound man (who knows what he's doing) said it started to sound like s**t....anyone else have this issue yet?

On stage, as always, the sound was great though...I'd just like to know what the issue could be. I never heard a problem through my speakers on stage...it was only through the DI.

I've used my DI out on a number of occasions, most recently last Friday, and have never had anything but compliments from the sound guy.

Yep, I got the same deal. I just got mine today from a store in NH via a guy in Connecticut. He's putting an order in for me so I can pick up the new one in Massachusetts and just hand over the old one.

Good thing too... they just threw the head in with some inflated bag packing. No box, no power cord, no manual. Just the head.

Mine came nicely wrapped with a power cord... no manual (although you can download it from the site). Even though it is not a 'new' unit, I would not have known, so I'm feeling pretty good about the one I recieved. I put up a few pictures and some preliminary impressions in a new thread a little bit ago if you are interested.

Thats exactly how one of mine came, but it also had a broken master knob. (edit: Mine did come with a very short power cord) GC just called me this morning and said a 'new' LMII just came in for me today.

After a couple of hours with the amp... this thing ROCKS!!!! It's like my basses came to life with their own voices. I can't believe how much of a difference between my old GK 1001RB to this.

It's funny...for some reason I always wanted to like the 1001RB but just couldn't.....turns out I always wanted it to sound like the LMK does!

Let me know how that goes. Also write down the serial number of the old one, when we hear about the next guy who gets a broken knob we can see if it's the same one. I don't think they have any way to repair these and I don't expect they'll try. Of all the damaged and used amps I've been reading about I haven't heard one story about a repair actually being made. Yeah, I already returned the damaged one. But there is no way anyone will get that amp un-repaired I returned and keep it. Only with the most precise motion of the master knob would the sound even begin to engage. I should have time tomorrow afternoon to get the LMII. Then I should be able to do what I promised almost a month ago, to A/B the LMII and the TA501. Collective finger cross, please!

It's funny...for some reason I always wanted to like the 1001RB but just couldn't.....turns out I always wanted it to sound like the LMK does!

Same here.. I had a 700RB, which I think is the same preamp section as the 1001RB, and even though I used it for several years, I couldn't believe the difference when I switch to the LMII. I could never dial in the sound I needed with the GK head but the MarkBass stuff had it as soon as I plugged in without any EQ tweaking.

Same here when switching from the gk to the mb, altho I only owned my gk for a short while. That falt tone from my sd800 is exactly what I'm looking for.

Purchased the Little Mark II from a local GC on Friday. I'm possibly still buying a used iAMP, but wanted to try out the LMK after all I'd read.

Anyway, I played the LMK the day after it was put out on the floor in the store and was impressed, but I wasn't sold on it just yet since the environment is never the best for making the ultimate decision. Also, there was one other problem: The tip of a cable had been broken off the day it was put on the floor, and although there was a signal and the amp worked fine, the cable couldn't lock in all the way with the tip of the other cable lodged in the input jack.

I waited a day to ponder and went back on Friday with my plan. I asked for a new one to start and was told it was the only one they had--wasn't sure I believed it, but I expected that answer. I told the salesperson that I'd take the one off the floor, but proceeded to explain about the broken cable tip.

Well, after talking with a manager over the matter, I wound up walking out of the store with the amp for a decent amount under $600 and some other goodies tossed in. I figured that the warranty would allow me to return it if I had any problems getting the tip out of the amp--which took just a little time and non-shaky hands to make happen.

The amp is killing through my two Aggie 112s so far, but two amps won't hurt, which is why I mentioned that I may buy another amp. It's not that the LMK isn't working out, it's just for the sake of curing some G.A.S.

The amp has more breadth available than I expected, and the sound of the bass really does shine through from what I'm hearing. I will get a really good idea next week at practice with the full band, but for now, there seems to be plenty of power for medium gigs--as everyone has mentioned who's played through it, and the tones are impressive for the size and price.

I am always gassing for another amp. I also have the Aggie 112's with the LMK and really happy with the rig. I did replace one of the speakers with a DeltaliteII. Looking at a Thunderfunk next

Soon I will post my final review between the LMII and the TA501, but I've used both in a situation where the TA 501 serves as my primary driving Berg 12 EX/HT's and the second MB LMII is driving an Acoustic freshly re-speakered with Eminence 15's cab. I have never heard anything in MY playing time that gets as close to that HOLY sound than this setup. I have driven the slave cab with several other power amps and some slaved combo heads, but the LMII clearly has more balls than any other that I've tried. I really thought of buying two amps of differing brands just to have the variety, but after a fair amount of trial and testing (nothing 100% scientific here) I just find no reason to not get (iow, find 100% reason to get) 2 MB heads. I have a dedicated studio and like to keep one head at the studio and one head and home for practice, bringing both heads to gigs for the 'full effect'. MB just rings true in my ear. Set totally flat, it just nails a great tone. GC is really working with me here, but honestly, I think that two MB heads, in my situation is the answer. The MB LMII and the TA501 do have their differences, and they are about $500 apart. That $500 review should be posted this week.
