Calling all Zoom MS60B and MS70CDR users

People i need some help. I'm essentially looking for some time based effects. The MS70CDR fits that bill perfectly but the MS60B has some really nice synth models that would love to try and incorporate in my sound.

My question is, how is the quality of the delay/chorus/verb effects on the MS60B. Not in comparison to the CDR, but are they all nice usable effects? Im not able to find any demos on youtube. Can someone who has this pedal share their thoughts or even better, post some clips of the effects on the MS60B.

Also, im not able to find any bass samples of the MS70CDR. Can anyone help with links?

EDIT: My current board is Korg PB -> MXR M82 -> Soundblox2 MWBD -> VT Bass -> Boss LMB3 -> Behringer UC200 -> Behringer Analog Delay

I have a B3 and a lot of the effects on the MS60B are the same. There's a few on each unit that aren't common to both but IMO pretty much everything but the distortions are pretty good. The CDR looks pretty fun. I'm thinking about getting a 60B or CDR in the future as well. I'm leaning more towards the CDR because I already have all the other stuff the 60B has(for the most part anyway). I haven't heard any samples of it on bass but there are a few CDR users here who can probably help. Most modulations for guitar work pretty well on bass in my experience, so I'm not too worried about hearing it with a bass.

The MS60B's big plus is that it offers monstrous tweakability for creating effects (pardon my english). With any patch, you can create exactly what you want. Phasing synth ? Got it. Pitch Flanger ? No problem. Sea-sickening tremoling octave ? But of course sir, where do you want us to put the sofa ?
Knob-obsessed low-ender's private paradise, I tell ya.

Because of that ability, you end up get pretty good effects for pretty much all of them (although I'm not crazy about the choruses, but that's just me). You just have to accept that to get them to sound right for you, a bit (or a lot) of tweaking is in order.

I use the 60B as an EQ, basically. The only effect I use from it is a chorus suggested by a TBer in the patch idea thread. But on occasion, such as last night, I will spend time experimenting with single or any combination of effects, just for the sake of it. That in itself makes this pedal an absolute gem.

Thanks for the feedback good sir. How's (specifically :P) the quality of the delay, reverb and chorus on this pedal?

I think the delays and reverbs are really good. There are lots of different flavors on there (as opposed to just two for chorus). My EQD delay of course sounds better, but the difference is negligible in most live contexts. And as stated, you can tweak like crazy by adding other pedal models.

It would be tough to sit and do clips because of all the options. There is a youtube vid from when they first came out where someone goes through pretty much every effect model to show what they sound like briefly. For 99 bucks, if just two out of the 58 effects sound good you' e got your money's worth.

From what I can tell, the 70 works just as good as all of the modulation effects in the 60 for bass. Just depends on if you want more detailed modulation options or want all kinds of amp models, synths and other effects.

I have a B3 with an expression pedal, a MS-60b and a MS-70CDR. The B3 is a far better unit that the 60b. It's more versatile, controllable, editable and has a lot more FX's the choose from. The output from my B3 seems to upset my 60b and I have to dial down the B3 a lot...plus I can't go B3 stereo out into the 60B...where as I can with the 70b. It does stereo in and out. I also don't seem to have the same input gain issues with my 70b. It's a more focussed pedal, and it has a really nice array of chorus, verbs and delays. It's got more options for each effect type. The B3 works really well with the 70b and it pretty much means I can sans amp, dual compress, plus another FX (octave, synth...) on the B3 and then add Chorus, delay and verb on the end of the signal.
I've found the dirt options on these pedals to be fairly good....but very influenced by the input gain. The over driven amp models and Sans amp model seem to offer me the best sounding dirt as opposed to the OD / muff sims. I'm not a big dirt player, but if I was, I'd probably look for a better dirt box to put between my B3 and 70b.
One gotcha...the patches on the B3 read left to right, but on the 60b and 70b they read right to left.

Thank you so much for your inputs!

Could you elaborate on that please..

Going to venture a guess here. The B3 is more...
Versatile: Has a drum machine, DI, loop creation, USB to DAW, etc.
Controllable: Has three different switches for turning individual pedal models on and off.
Editable: Hmm, not sure I get that. The 60b is immensely editable. In fact, you can chain up to four pedals in a single patch, which you can't do on the B3.
I'll add that it's more:
Sizeable: :)

Also, is there any firmware update on the MS60B that gets us more effects? As i see, it has only 52 effect types compared to 99 on the B3.

No firmware update, and someone received an email comment from Zoom that none was in the works as of right now.

The B3 and 60b are both great products, and they are each designed to do different jobs. The B3 has more functionality if you want/need to do things like record direct, or if you are a live player that wants/needs to have three pedals that you can turn on and off by themselves. The 60b is more suited for live players that want/need access to a many effects or effects patches from a single spot on their pedal board, which describes me exactly. In that sense, the 60b is a "far better unit" than the B3. You know, for me.

Hey there, I have both and use both. I think both are great pedals. IMO the 70cdr's time based effects seem a tad better than the 60b's. They are pretty much the same but I feel like the 70cdr does a little better of a job at what it does and in the effects it shares with the 60b. Could you be a little more specific about what you'd like to hear on both please? There are TONS of effects between the pedals and I cant sit here and just play all of them, that is going to be a all day affair. Let me know and I will post some stuff on my sound cloud. I actually have some entries on there with me messing around with some of the reverbs on the 70. Heres my SC account, check out the first one or two entries.

Sure:
The B3 has nearly twice as many FX. If you look at Chorus FX, there's a lot more available on the B3 meaning more choice and different sounds or styles of Chorus. The MS-60b has a lot less choice to offer. The dual band Compressor on the B3 is a highlight, which isn't availale on the MS-60b...although the excellent 160 comp is available on both.

Some of the patches have the same name on the MS-60b but are infact slightly different with a few less options. The B3 also has the ability to adjust the input and output gain for each FX in a patch...along with the ability to adjust the output gain from the whole unit. The B3 can connect to a PC using the USB option and can save / edit / load patches from the supplied software. The B3 has the option of an expression pedal which really helps with some FX (wha, volume, level of dirt gain). The B3 has an active / passive input switch.

The B3's UI is easier to use, more intuative and certainly quicker to edit. I can operate it far easier with my foot, hitting the three FX stomp buttons, where as I have to bend down to the MS-60b a lot more.

The B3 sounds slightly clearer to my ears and less noisy when using the same patches.

The B3 has a drum machine and looper...not my bag, but useful if required.

I which the B3 had 4 FX bays available like the MS-60b....although it's really easy to max out the unit with certain combos and end up with only 3 max anyhow. The amp models and delays seem to soak up a lot of processing power.

If Zoom were to make a B5, I'd be all over it...although I've pretty much covered that now with my B3 / 70 CDR combo. Do I think the MS-60b is comparable to the B3? No not really...simular but a lot more limited. If you already have a number of loved effects and just want to add a simple multi FX, use the 60b...but if you choose a B3, you might find that you don't need most of those other effects any more. I ditched a TE Dual Compressor and Digit tech multi chorus pedal shorty after getting a B3. I can get exactly the same sound and in some respects, slightly better.

Does this help?
