Can anybody remember actually getting a case with a new Bass ??

Im trying to think of the era you stopped getting a nice manufacturers matching hardcase supplied with your Bass irriespective of the money you spent , im thinking late Eighties .
Nowdays [ Depending on the model , usually Musicman , Spector , Top end Fenders etc ] its a crappy box , generic gigbag or an option to spend more and buy a generic hardcase which can be worth nearly half as much as the bass and not support it correctly ...... anyway , thats my gripe for the day lol .

BTW im in New Zealand , maybe we just get ripped off here .

Rays still come with one, and I think Fenders and Rics do, too. But for some reason $4,000 Warwicks don't...

Got a heavy duty aluminium flight case with my custom Larkin Reacter and a hard shell case with my Fender '75RI.

I bought my Warwick in 2006 which is SUPPOSE to come with a case but didn't. I had to pay for the gig bag as well. Gotta love GC!

when i bought my first bass (don't even remember the no-name name) in 1987, for 199.00, i got a hard case, strap, couple packs of strings and a cable thrown in...

never had that experience again, with far more expensive basses....

yeah the german warwicks come with a gig bag. it's a pretty nice gig bag but still...

my corvette std came with one. when I bought my rockbass I bought a rock case and it didn't even fit it! I had to add extra padding and a strap at the neck area so the bass would stop banging around in there

Yeah , those rockcases make me puke . Acres of room around the body with a spindly little neck bed all the way up towards the headstock ........most Basses flop around like a pea in a whistle , Id rather use one of their deluxe Gigbags .

Chris Stambaugh offers(or at least he used to)your choice of HSC or gigbag, and while we're talking custom, his prices are extremely reasonable.

Some expensive one still do. My only new bass purchases both did, but both were from a luthier. It seems some retailers prefer to sell the bass on its own, then make the buyer purchase the accessories it shipped with. Doesn't always work. I can remember GC selling off piles of nice Warwick gig bags dirt cheap. Wonder why they had so many...
