Lol warwick gigbags, low qaulity with inferior padding and cheap zippers. Thats my take on those from the two I had. Couldnt replace them fast enough with qaulity gigbags. Last bass I bought that came with hard case was BC Richs. The american warlock came with it as part of the basic price, the other two warlocks came with it from adding it to purchase.

My Ric came with a very nice hard case.
SBMM Ray34 came with a decent gig-bag
The shop I bought my HWY 1 from couldn't find the gig-bag for it so I got a discount. I bought an SKB-44 for it.
My Washburn Mercury came with nothing - had to buy the matching hard case for it.

My Ric and Ray both came with semi-reasonable cases (the Ray case is SKB). The last Status I bought came with a genuine Hiscox case, and you won't beat that... the SKB case is a bit of joke in comparison, although if I'd never had a Hiscox case I'd think the SKB was okay.

I guess because I remember the 70's where the case was nearly always a not included accessory item to buy extra, I almost find it a treat when something new does come with a case, or even a halfway decent gig bag.

My Thumb BO came with a hard case. Sturdy, bulky and boat anchor heavy. The material inside however could have been glued better - some of the cover is already peeling off a bit.

PS: I don't know why ppl had issues with the W gigbags - I got one with my 'Vette and is rock solid; not to mention is one of the very few gigbags that I've owned (and I did own quite a bunch) that can totally protect the bass from external temperature - when I get the bass out it's cold at touch, while the room temperature is very hot all the time.

Most companies websites will tell you whether the bass or guitar comes with a case. If you know this going into the sale, you should get the case for free with the purchase. If the store doesn't want to play.....those companies are only a phone call away.
