Classy! I dig that a lot. I actually had a Skjold spec'd almost identically to that look, and it was beautiful. Ended up not digging the bass, but I love that 'simple, high end, classy' boutique look of a simply, high quality, 'solid' top and a simple board with nice figuring in a contrasting color. VERY nice!

That maple board on the dark neck is also WAY cool.


Regarding Tom's Skjolds... That blueburst fretless is a work of art IMO!

ken - my inspiration for having fred build me this bass was that rash of ash/walnut/ash/maple mtd 535's that broke out a while back...vic was responsible for that, iirc...the graphite neck came out of frustration for always having to adjust the necks of my basses that i took to sea with my on the submarines i have been stationed on...i have always liked to have one, maybe two basses, so they have to be multi-taskers...i'm really a warwick guy, but the necks get so wiggly on a boat...every time we crack the hatch, snorkel, ventilate, equalize, it seemed like i needed to tweak them...

Nice. I love that color combination on the MTD's also (Vic's walnut/ash/maple, etc.). Nice!

I would think that a submarine would be quite a challenge for a wooden necked instrument. I couldn't make out if that neck was wenge or composite. It looks really nice!

Somebody needs to post Tom's fretless. That bass is really something!

it's graphite composite - made by graphite guitar systems...it's run by the same gerry dorsch that was geoff gould's partner at modulus...the fingerboard is stabilized acrylicized birdseye...hopefully there won't be any movement :D


and yeah, tom's fretless is gorgeous...


and so are brad's brubes...i don't like singlecuts either, but those things are the hotness

This must be one of the most beautiful bass on talkbass!
I love plain and simple look.
Also the combination of a brown top with a dotless maple fingerboard do it for me.

Honestly, I think this particular Skjold is a MUCH better looking version of a Lions Pride.

No idea who owns this, but I ran into these pictures a while back, and this one (required IMO) OOOOZES class.

No offense Tom, and PLEASE don't take this personaly, but I find that Redwood one to look very busy. Just doesn't do it for me. Very much over done in my opinion, but that's just a matter of my personal taste.

Figured this one would be a pretty good Apples vs. Apples comparison.


I'd rock the hell out of this one if it was a 4 banger with a single split coil pickup. :)

Funny how people's tastes can vary. That one looks kinda' blah and boring to me. The redwood top oozes class to me. No matter, Pete makes many different flavors, and I bet we all agree they are fine instruments! :)
