Funny how people's tastes can vary. That one looks kinda' blah and boring to me. The redwood top oozes class to me. No matter, Pete makes many different flavors, and I bet we all agree they are fine instruments!

With all due respect, I would propose that this is a "contest" with no real "winner." Looks are, of course, entirely subjective, and what really floats one person's boat might not do much for someone else. Plus, there are tons of truly beautiful basses out there, from minimalist to ornate. Heck, I don't even have a favorite bass, myself!

I'm sure that Pete is flattered by the appreciation shown in this thread, but I say there is no "best" and if we all have a bass to play that we enjoy, then we are all winners.

not to mention, normally, a slab bass looks better to me than most "boutique" style instruments.

Lung, kidney, whatever. I like very much the look of this bass but could do without the ornamentation in the middle. I like the shape, but on mine the guard area would be maybe flat black or some solid metal tone. It's nice to see a shape like the normally-overdone single cut done in a more simple form. Had I the money for a custom, this is the sort of aesthetic I'd look for from a builder.
