Can anyone help out?

I play in a punk band and I've been contemplating on weather i should get an effect pedal and if i do which effects are out there. Were trying to go for our own sound which is why i wanna try out a pedal. Any comments, ideas, suggestions?

You're the only one who can make the decision of whether or not you should get a pedal.

There's lots of pedals out there...fuzz, OD, distortion, tuners, phasers, flangers, delay, etc etc etc.

What kind of punk are you playing? I know you're trying to go for your "own" sound, but it's punk...ya know? I see in your profile that you have an Ibanez bass. What head/cab/combo are you using?

Basically, if you're playing straight punk, an Ampeg SVT Classic head pushed hard would be more punk than anything else. Otherwise, an overdrive is your best bet if you can't afford a good tube head and cab.

Were sort of like NOFX, Youth Brigade, Social Distortion, etc. Ill take a pic of my bass and post it when i get the chance. Ill take a look at the Ampeg SVT. Thnx for the suggestion.

here is a simple solution and will get you better than ballpark on the sound...Sansamp VT bass. Try one out and you will be too punk for everyone to handle.
