Can anyone identify this bass guitar please?

If I'd known there was going to be a mystery-bass thread about it, I would have gotten more photos while working shows in '16. I handled a couple of those and honestly I don't remember it being anything remarkable (or remarkably expensive)... just a fairly standard tour-duty bass/tool. Nothing kept under wraps or in a vault or in its own trailer behind one of the busses, and no biometric lock code to get into the bass case.

Here's the backup, a Blacktop Jazz. Of course, the bass in question by the O.P. usually sits next to it, but was in use on stage when I took this one...

It looks Japanese to me. They get all the good stuff. Also all of my aerodyne basses have dot inlays. Here’s a pic of my aerodyne p bass. I also googled Japanese fender p bass black and a bunch of them had matching black headstocks. It’s a cool bass but at the end of the day just a p.

Here's an all black Japanese PBass on ebay.
Not an exact match, but pretty darn close.
Used! Fender Japan Precision Bass All Black Made in Japan 2007-10 | eBay
All these basses have painted necks and no pickguard. The bass in the OP has a pickguard and an unpainted neck. There are also differences in hardware, pickups and electronics, so we’re not there yet, I think.

... a Fender American Standard Precision Bass but listening to it doesnt sound like anything being played by the Ghost Bass guitarist. :/

People are trying to answer your question "ID this bass please" but seems you are actually looking for the sound, not the exact bass. You need to play the bass (such as a nice black precision, yes, why not start from that) in the same style and use similar effects. I do not know if this thread about the band here on TalkBass a few years ago helps you but at least there are some ideas there: Overdrive - Ghost, a nameless ghoul....

You know, these guys actually sound okay...looking at them I had to believe the singer was one of those guttural-scream singers, but he has a good voice.
The bass sounds good, too...I wonder what kind of pedal he’s using.

I agree - never heard of them but for all the 'scary' make-up/costumes and satan topic lyrics - it's such a 'nice' sounding song and the singer is very personable. :)

Definitely an MIJ P from the 80s with original knobs replaced. Here’s one that was sold recently:
Fender 1984-87 Fender PB551 Boxer Black Precision P Bass MIJ - With Hardshell Case
That bass has a painted neck, which the one in the OP does not, and no pickguard, which the one in the OP does. It may well be a Japanese P from the 80’s, but certainly not that one, at least not without extensive modifications. The bridge and tuners are also different, as is the truss rod access, and it has a side-mounted output jack as well.

Very cool of you to chime in. Watching the debate and people geek out about it is amusing.

Aerodyne. I want one, it's been sitting in my "cart" for a while...waiting.

Nm, I zoomed in closer on the pic. But, I do still want an aerodyne regardless
