My Ibanez Roadster 824 (mahogany body/maple FP) has itself lotsa switches... active / passive, and neck/both/bridge.

The bridge on that thing doesn't growl like a jazz, it does this burpy funk thing that sounds like Stevie Wonder on a Hohner D-6. That sound alone makes me want to put down my upright and join a funk wedding band so I can throw that switch to the bridge and step to the front o' the stage!

Haven't strung it with flats yet, though. ANy opinions on PJ plus Flats?

Don't hesitate! I have Chromes on both my BB415 and my SB-2, and they're awesome. Old school sound with some brightness dialed in if you so desire.

Hey Billy, it's an american Precision deluxe 5... all stock except for the pickguard wich i got through Fender.....killin bass. Jazz bass tones, Pbass tones, inbetween....kinda like ragu... "it's all in there".

Absolutely some P/J love, Iota! Very nice new bass, congrats!

I have two P/J's- love them both, they are the two oldest basses still in my possession.

1) 1986 Peavey Foundation, with both a fretted (original) neck and a fretless one ordered from Peavey, and Seymour Quarter Pounder pickups

2) 1990 Warmoth walnut P-bass body with EMG active P/J's. Originally a fretted with a Warmoth padauk neck and ebony fingerboard, now a fretless with a Warmoth maple neck and fretlined ebony board.

Beautiful tones from the P/J sets! Although very different from each other.

I think it is a little of both!!

Yea, I am really pleased with that bass. It is built like a tank...the heaviest too of all my basses.

Is there any tone difference having the three sets of pole peices on the treble side vs. the bass side of the pickup?

Ok, I want to know. Which gets the most playing time? If it's the jazz... which gets the most between the PJ and the P?
