The micro actually sounds better now that only one thing is plugged in....was it in 2ohm or 8ohm mode with both plugged in??

If the coating on the transformer windings are damaged or cracked it could lead to issues down the road. The best way to test it is to turn the amp up and drive it hard. If you hear crackling, there is a problem. The damage is already done. If it seems fine, then maybe you are alright. You may have just burned it in a little which can happen over time. You should have the amps checked out.

I wouldn't even turn it on at all. Just take it to a competent tech and tell hom exactly what happen.
Ask him for a repair estimate before he continues past the duagnosis or orders any parts.

The micro may well have some protection circuitry built in and is Ok.
I'd still take the SVT to a tech, tell him what happened, pay the standard bench fee (probably $75 or so) to check it out. Then you decide what to do from there.
The standard 810E has used that system since the early 2000s if not earlier.
When you turn it on is it more like a loud transformer hum or buzz? Kind of like an old tv when you turn it on but louder?
Huh, news to me. Maybe the guy had both amps plugged into one section and the other 410's just doing nothing? Or the switch failed? I'm assuming there's a switch, or switching jack, so you can run it as a single 810 from a single input.
Regardless of what version of 810 it was, there was smoke coming out of the SVT.
I had one plugged into one of the 2 1/4s thats are side by side...I think both use all 8-10 and the other into the speakon.
and the smoke only came for a quick second when I pushed it for a second.....both amps sound perfect loud.....man that SVT sounds so much better then a class D 550 watt amp!
Switching jack on the dual connection, but there are also 4 mono connections, two 1/4" and two speakon (I'd assume for daisy chaining). There's a diagram in the manual

Amps do not have the ability to heal themselves. Once smoke has been seen, something has been damaged. While you may *like* the sound that the amp makes with damaged components, the amp won't like it at all, and further damage is possibly occurring.

You're not fine. There was smoke. Stop @$$hatting around, turn the amps off, and get them checked out before you have a pile of fire, that was once what you called gear.
There's an electric motor repair place out my way, with a funny poster on the wall--something to the effect that electronic devices work because they contain magic smoke in their components, and if that magic smoke ever escapes the device needs to go to the shop.
I'm with The Janitor, will33, and beans-on-toast (and whoever else) on this one. Best to get both those amps checked out before you turn them on again.
Why make the this thread if you don't really care about the gear?
