Regardless of what version of 810 it was, there was smoke coming out of the SVT.
Yup, smoke is always bad.
OP needs to shut it off and leave it off and get it checked out or he'll just have a more catasrophic, and more expensive failure later.

I just got off the phone with my tube amp tech...and before I say what he said I want you all to know he is a great tech!!! and the best in the boston area!
Other then checking the bias theres really nothing I can do....unless it shuts off! if its loud and clear and sounds fine keep using it! lol if it shuts off bring it down.

Your tech is a hack. You have burned components in your amp. A third grader could take a look at see a burned spot.
Find a new tech.
but I didnt have the other amp turned on! it was off! and still smoking!
I had it like this all day yesterday too and this didnt happen just when I turned up the juice a tad today for a second! I unplugged it out of the cab now obviolusly! but both amps are still working! but I can still smell the smoke in the SVT.....should i take it and get it checked out? it seems to be working ok now.

So I called my old man that used to do electronics for raytheon in the 60s....told him about it....he told me what the tube guy told me....if oyu had a problem it would be gone by now. it was the transformer
