Can someone tell me what I did wrong????

i think at this point in time you've heard both sides of the coin. It's now up to you to choose where you want to go with it.
my old man and the watertown tech pretty much told me the same thing...if its working and not hissing or crackling it was probably just heating up the insulation in the transformer and should be ok.....and theres nothing really you can do unless it starts making crackling noises...so who is the troll??? Askrere??
No, it does not work fine with the transformer gone. The transformer allows the amplifier to work. If transformers were unnecessary, amplifiers wouldn't be loaded full of 30+ lbs of them. A tech can determine whether any windings are shorting by verifying the continuity between wires which should be connecting and ensuring that a voltage does not pass between coils which should not be connected. If they determine that it is damaged or faulty, they can replace it for you. Transformers can be $250+ depending on the model and the quality of transformer.
I believe it's around 350-400 installed. (edit: last I was quoted w/a full "checkup"...the tranny was a Jensen, iirc.)
Dude may well have done a quick voltage/current calculation in his head, and being familiar with the amp, figured the OT should've survived.
He may be right.
It still smoked and popped and he has no business diagnosing it over the phone.
Doesn't take a tech to say, "go ahead and play it. It'll either work or it won't".

I probably should have said I have popping issues sometimes when I go out of standby....but this pop sounded different....it was like when I hit the strings it made the pop.

Yep, so take it to a tech and get a real diagnosis, and you may be able to save yourself the $300 or even more if it causes further damage to additional components. Soon enough you could have a worthless burning pile of once-amp.

5 pages? You used the SVT's output transformer as a dummy load. It overheated and smoked. It's not terminal - yet, but the insulation is not what it was and there's a failure round the corner.
I believe I know who this tech is as well if they are in watertown, very well known, VERY well respected. People make a point to put this guy's name in their craigslist ads around here when selling so buyers know the amp is good to go, no worries. I'd fully trust him to look at it, he'll make it right. Depending on what the smoke looked and smelled like would dictate whether or not I would use it again before servicing. If it had that burnt component smell, I'd unplug it and leave it be.

and I trust him what he says. he told me if it sounds fine and the bios didnt go out of wack it should be ok....and really nothing they can do unless the transformer acts weird crackles....if it still sounds fine loud he said it should be ok but we will check just incase saturday.
and I been using it for the last hour and it sounds perfect!
Transformers are usually the most expensive part in a tube amp.
One of them is also the last thing in line before the speaker jacks....which makes it the first thing in line when you shove juice up the amps backside.
That's why my first response mentioned this "likely being expensive".
Well say I do continue using it like I have been the last hour....whats the worst thing that can happen? the transformer is gone and I have to get another?
I guess I just dont understand if I fried that and it stopped working I buy another? what can they do for me that would cost me less money? I am serious I know nothing about electronics I dont mean to be "trolling" If it breaks could it destroy everything?? or if it breaks I get another trasformer?
