So I think I figured out this riddle...
OP purchased a bass from a 3rd party seller via an online auction and sales site.
OP is currently attempting to get a refund from said seller, and case is pending.
OP sees this other bass from same seller, which appears to have been converted from a Telecaster guitar, and uses this as evidence that they should have stayed away from said seller. This seems to happen after purchase, however, still unclear if this siting was before or after refund was requested.
OP purchased the 8 string fretless?
OP has not revealed what is wrong with purchased bass.

Does this sum up the events up to present?

Most of the discussion seems to focus on evidence exhibit A, which, if I followed this correctly, was not the purchased bass.
I got to admit, I don't think I have even seen or heard an 8 string fretless. Perhaps that was some sort of conversion too, and the OP feels is lacking in quality.

Thanks for the summing up, I had no idea I was on trial here :) In my defence I am under a lot of stress and haven't been able to go shoe shopping for nearly a year.

Wasn't trying to put you on trial, and apologize it came out sounding as an attack. It took me three or four readings to figure out the sequence of events and facts. I just wanted to be clear, and hopefully clarify to others because most of this thread is arguing about a bass that is not the bass in question.
I am curious to see and read what is wrong with the purchased bass, if you care to share.

I wish you more luck in your future shoe shopping sorties than your recent botched bass buying!

I made the mistake of buying a bass from this seller, eBay case still in progress... if I'd seen this I might have known to stay away!
Super Short Scale Semi Hollow 4 String Bass Guitar | eBay
I agree with the OP that the ad is misleading. When an item is advertised, certain things are commonly assumed. There is nothing in there that says its was a home-made job, or a 6 string conversion. In the spirit of fair play and transparency, it should have been disclosed.
