I'm not sure I agree with your assessment of the instrument. Of course I could be wrong, but after carefully studying the photos, it appears to me to be an 8 string fretless bass guitar. Maybe it was converted from a 4 string fretless bass, but if so, it doesn't appear to be a hack job in any way shape or form.

It was actually converted from 6 string fretless. No matter how good a conversion is (and I believe there are some done to a very high standard by certain TB members) it should always be declared, in my opinion. Your assessment, like mine, is based on what you see from a few photos, except you have the advantage of knowing it's a conversion so if you were thinking of buying could take that into account. I didn't have that crucial bit of information.

I don’t think it was misrepresented. I think it was inadequately represented.

AFAIC those two terms are pretty much the same. No where in the listing does it say it's a guitar turned into a bass. That's clearly mispresenting the product. However, not mentioning that fact means the product was not adequately represented, meaning it was "inadequately represented". IMO another "gotcha" is the fact that the seller doesn't accept returns. Always a red flag for me on eBay.

OK, so it took just 7 pages of posts to get to this point. This post would have been a lot shorter if this information was on page 1 and I think your self assessment of being poor at communication is correct. BTW, you can buy shoes online, a little retail therapy is in order. I feel you, I've been stuck indoors for 10 months, it's a little trying...
