I'm glad it worked out for you. I don't think the ad is misleading. It didn't pretend to be something it's not. More information would have been better, but I think questions should have been asked.

Gross misrepresentation. You have eBay and PayPal rights to ask for a refund and return shipping. For those posting snarky answers shame on them. They'd be crying like little babies if it happened to them. Have people really lost their empathy?

If what happened to them? Since the OP has declined to tell us what exactly was wrong with the bass, who's to say? I don't think people have lost their empathy as much as being bit bewildered about the whole situation as presented.

I would think it's pretty obvious he doesn't want it because it's a guitar converted into a bass. Have you bought a guitar converted into a bass? Neither have I. Neither would anyone else. It's not a desirable feature.

The total tension of a set of Addario EXL 45-105 bass strings is 173lbs whereas a set of 10-46 guitar strings is 84lbs. That may be doable on a solid body, but a semi-acoustic? The guitar was never designed for such high tension. Let's try it with some heavy Labella flats. Oops!
At what scale length? Not 25.5".
138lbs at 25.5" which is still considerably more tension than 84lbs
Where do you get those figures from? The total tension of the D'Addario EXL110 guitar set is 102.52lbs; tension of the EXL165 at 25.5" is 98lbs.
Since we're at it, have you ever seen the innards of a Thinline Tele? It has a central block extending at least* between the neck and the bridge.

* (In some models there is a hollow chamber between bridge and butt of the body; in others, there isn't, so the block runs the entire length of the body.)

The figures were from the D’addarIo tension pro app, I may have miscalculated, but I don’t think so. Anyway, the instrument wasn’t built with this intended purpose, and anyone selling one should clearly mention it’s a conversion, imo.

I'm not sure I agree with your assessment of the instrument. Of course I could be wrong, but after carefully studying the photos, it appears to me to be an 8 string fretless bass guitar. Maybe it was converted from a 4 string fretless bass, but if so, it doesn't appear to be a hack job in any way shape or form.

I got the feeling that this was being sold as "used", meaning it's probably not manufactured by the seller, so it's quite possible the seller has no idea of it's actual manufacturing information. Here is the listing as posted:

"Custom Single Cut 8 String Fretless Bass Guitar. Condition is "Used". As you can see this is a stunning example of an 8 string bass guitar. With a beautiful spalted and quilted maple top this is a one of a kind instrument. It has a 3 piece neck through construction for maximum sustain and tone with swamp ash body wings. It sounds as good as it looks with twin soapbar pickups and a 3 band preamp with master volume control, bass boost and cut, mids boost and cut, treble boost and cut and a pickup blend knob. All these controls allow you to shape your sound to cover any tone you would ever need from an 8 string fretless bass. I have never before seen an 8 string fretless, they have an absolutely beautiful sound that you can't quite replicate with anything else. Any questions feel free to ask"

And again, the OP has decided that the only information we are to be allowed is the listing and photos, and from those, I see zero misrepresentation. It's really too bad that the OP won't tell us the reasons for returning this, as I'm honestly quite intrigued. Oh well.

EDIT: Maybe the OP thought this bass had 8 separate notes, rather than 4 primary notes and their octaves.

Ok, he bought the 8string, but people are discussing both, and although I was trying to speak generally about both basses, I slipped into talking about the short-scale. Both are probably conversions, but you don't know, I guess. 12-string guitar necks are reinforced, so I believe an 8-string bass would need a stronger neck as well. Regardless, I think he should mention his basses are conversions. I still maintain very few would want them if they knew.
