Canceled gigs this weekend due to weather?

Both places are great spots, but it's weird. During the first set, the place is absolutely dead, but the place blows up at a certain time and it's a party the rest of the night.

Wow, I'm actually sort of surprised that they cancelled you. I've played there in pretty bad weather before, they get a lot of foot traffic and don't usually cancel bands. And you are right, it's a fun room and it's just like that, empty and then all of the sudden it's just packed and crazy.

I don't know the details. I just know they contacted the agency, and the agency contacted us. According to part of their facebook post.. " Looks like Saturday is a day better spent at home."

I don't blame them though. They'd probably lose money on the night if the storm is even half as bad as expected.

I live in Rhode Island about 15 minutes from Connecticut line and we are playing in Quincy mass tonight and tomorrow night ... But I doubt I'll be driving to Quincy tomorrow in the storm then driving over 2 hours home in it... Sometimes it's not worth it when it comes to danger and driving in a snow storm regardless how much we enjoy playing out... I've been playing for over 20 years plus in bands and have canceled one gig ever ... Tomorrow may be number 2..

we got stranded at our Duo gig back in the early-mid 80's snowstorms of northern OH .. we where a couple hours from home ... all roads closed ... luckily we where at a restaurant within a hotel ... made the mistake of giving up our room thinking the roads would re-open ... then slept in the bar booths ..
was kinda fun as we had a packed captive audience .. !

drove thru many blizzards while driving all over Ohio in the 70's/80's ... to bars with a few true bar flies that would never stay home .. !

now in Florida .... we wait for hurricane parties .. !!

I cancelled a gig a couple winters ago due to a pending blizzard. I called the manager at the bar and gave him the option, and he was really happy we did. He did not want to call us FIRST since he felt weird about cancelling the gig on us. As it turned out, the bar stayed open, the blizzard hit, and they were dead all night. He was happy that we saved him $400 by rescheduling. He respected us for helping him out and made up for it with additional gigs.

If you're worried about the weather, don't be afraid to call the venue and discuss options. They most likely will be glad you did. Especially if you live someplace that's not used to heavy snowfall... it's freakin' dangerous out there. Be safe!

Yep, just got the word that their return flight is cancelled and we'll have to stretch out the 1/3 of our songs that he doesn't sing lead on to fill the night. Gotta work on my 20 minute bass solos I guess ;) .

We are on the very northern fringe of the storm........no problem north of Pittsburgh......Yeah!!!!
