Carvin B1500 club

sure hope it works out well, I'll take the F1 as backup, as it should be. Otherwise I'm luggin a big rig when don't really have to. But all this talk of new Carvin heads got me riled up to use it again.

I never have to use public transportation and most clubs I play in the Houston area have big concrete parking lots and I'm usually able to back my SUV right near a load-in door right onto stage. Bless all those strip malls we have here. So luggin this amp to gigs in its short, 4 space Gator rack case aint no big sweat. I don't think I'll get gassy for the lighter weight, newer version B2000, but sounds like a cool idea of an amp.

I'll post back late tonite or manana to let y'all know how it went. I'm outta here............

had a blast at the gig. This band is a big 8 pc disco/funk band, horns, keys, female vox, new lead male vox on this nite, he stumbled abit but did well overall. The rig was awesome, I got props on my sound from drummer, a dude in the crowd and my wife. She still asks, yours is the bass right? C'mon honey, still?? :confused:

Yeah so it was a very cool nite. And I've never set my 55-02D in this scooped way. I was not feeling this bass recently and had it here for sale/trade for awhile. No good offers so I took it to rehearsal to try it out again. I just found this cool tone while messing around here at home by testing my rig/bass before the gig as I always do. Especially since it been awhile since I use the B1500. Now I know the B1500 & this bass is a keeper again.

I imagine this bass will sound good with those knob settings with my usuall Eden 410xlt/F1 rig or Neopak w/Neox112T+212T. But it's cool to know the big rig B1500 w/GB212T's will do good for the summer-outdoor gigs. The smaller rigs will work for the smaller clubs we play. So I'm good right now.

Well waiting on UPS to drop off a 08 P5 today that I plan to use with the blues band. I know the -02 can get close to a P tone but I'm wanting a true, passive P for that group. WOW, :eek: I bet the P5 will pound thru the B1500. :bassist:

Don't necessarily need a number, but I've been gigging with my B1500 for a few years. What a powerhouse! I usually run it thru 2 2x10 cabs I have. One is an older Avatar B210 and the other is a modified Hartke Transporter that I loaded with emeinence Delta 10 pros and ported and tuned to about 62hz. I do have an Avatar Neo 212 that I use sometimes too. :bassist:

I have personally had 3 of these(I sold one to Dirty Dave). Everytime I buy or trade something for a different brand amp I ALWAYS come back to this one. I actually have been recently A/B/C'ing this against my Mesa Titan/400+ and sadly for the Mesa's the B1500 sounds much better and easier to set up a usable tone in a faster fashion(on the fly live)and seems to have more power as well. I have also gigged this repeatedly with 2 4OHM Avatar 4x10's(2 OHMS all day long), Ampeg 8x10,Schroeder 310212, Mesa 4x12 and recently a Mesa Powerhouse 1000(4x10-1x15). Every one of these cabs shined when the B1500 was used and for 1/3 of the price of the Titan is still the winner hands down. I am considering getting a Carvin 8x10($500 new)to match up to it though I have enough cabs to last me a lifetime as it is.

Above all that can I have number 666 please(this amp is so evil sounding I feel I need that number...LOL)

And trust me...I was so glad to find out that you were selling it. The one I bought from you was my second since I made the same mistake of selling my first one (because of the weight). It is now my work horse and makes it out to all my larger gigs just about every weekend. I just placed an order for the new B2000 but even still, I don't think I'll be able to let go of the B1500. I'll sell my GK 1001RB-II first!!

wow! i just got mine. wow. i tried one setting i thought would work good. and wow it was so sweeet. the first thought that went through my head was "how could the person i bought this from sell this? i could never. what a sweet tone, i found my new favorite head

I need a number please!

I just got my new B1500 in tonight. The first one was damaged, so they sent me another one and the 2nd one arrived fine. The Carvin customer service dude said they only have a few left and once their gone, well their gone for good so if you want a new one better get one soon!

I think that the B1500 is really awesome. I used the flat setting from bass gear mag issue 2 to start and didnt really need to tweak much past that, although I like the drive at about 7 1/2.

I ain't sending this one back that's for sure. I decided to get this one over the B2000 with the digital power section (and the 12ax7).

BTW they changed the EQ on the new B2000, it's different than the B1500.

Front handles stick out 1-1/4" from the face of the amp. Rack ears to the back of the amp is 10-3/8" but I would include an extra 1/4" for protruding jacks, fan guard, direct out level control etc.

Are you trying to mount the B1500 in one of those SKB X-Racks or something?

I tried the VT pedal in front of my B1500 for a little while in a solo setting, not live. It sounded pretty good, but I just prefer the solid state tone by itself. I know there are plenty of players that really like that sound though. I ended up selling my VT pedal because my Sansamp Bass Driver DI could get essentially the same sounds and had the DI, which is my "backup amp" for gigs.

But to answer your question...Yes, you can get a pretty convincing Ampeg Tube amp sound from the B1500 and VT pedal.

No, I'm making my own rack. It'll look like the Carvin SV2 rack they use for the B2000 and BX1500, but with Duratex instead of vinyl.
