Welcome to the club! I regard the B1500 as a modern classic, even if it's out of production now.

I used to use a 4 ohm B-4 when I was doing some bigger gigs (now a B-2). It sounded killer, and I imagine two 8 ohm B2s, especially stacked vertically, would be even better. If I start playing some bigger places again, as is possible within the next year or so, that's exactly what I plan to use. (BTW, I sold my B-4 to another B1500 user, and he loved it.)

This is not to say the other speaker alternatives wouldn't be killer too, just that the Acme rig is the one I personally have most experience with.

I've been a proud owner of a B1500 since a week or two after their release date. I never really looked for a club before, but now that they're all gone I'm looking to represent my pride!! Can I get a number!?

Also, since we're all playing through the same amp, can anybody make me some cab suggestions? Currently running through a Redeye 4x10 and 1x15 but looking to move on to something a little more portable (neo?) and (possibly) deeper sounding. I've been gravitating toward the Genz Benz Neox 212T's, the Acme B2's (Andy suggests 2 8ohm versions), or maybe doing a fEarful 1212/6.....but I'm still trying to decide if I'm too lazy to finish that project!

Any suggestions? I'm thinking 2 cabs still just for the versatility that it offers for different venues. They don't have to match - I've been looking at pairing an Uber 2x12 with 2x10 etc. I play mostly hard rock with 2 guitarists and a LOUD drummer.

Thanks for the info Tom. I read a post (most likely yours) a while back about the LS 1503's. If I go that route, would you recommend upgrading to the Kappa's? I know it will save some weight, but how about sound? I'm young....my back isn't quite my biggest concern yet!

I'd be very interested to hear your updates comparing the LS1503 to the fEarful. Please let me know what you discover!

What I think I'd LOVE would be a Carvin BRX2.10 neo with a BRX12 neo (2x12) - which was unfortunately discontinued years ago. Too bad....

You'd probably be better off, as some speaker gurus here have explained, using either two BRX212s (too bad they were discontinued) or two BRX2.10 Neos. The latter, come to think of it, is not a bad idea either.

I concur. My concerns were that the 2x10's may not push enough low end for my liking but the limited reviews I've found on that particular 2x12 is that it had a definite void in the mids. ....seemed a combo of both would be good.

I think I'm leaning most toward two Acme B2's (8ohm).....just waiting for someone to post them on the classifieds because I'm cheap! I will wait to hear how the 1503 stacks up to the fEarful though. I've been following the 1503 thread for a while now.

I guess my sig pic didnt sway you lol I have been running Avatar 4/10 neo and 2/12 neo for a while with my carvin B1500 we tune a whole step down I play 5 string Cirrus 18volt bass and I love it I have been toying with going to a 4/12 but for what we play a very heavy prog metal band it does very well we play LOUD

Will do! My guess is that if you are going to consider swapping out the drivers, I might lean towards just building a fEarful from scratch. But I'll certainly know more after I get those cabs done!

Wow, two Whappo, Jr.'s would make for a heck of a rig! I only have one Jr., but I really like it. It is one of my favorite Accugroove cabs (the other being the Tri 115L), and I think that a B1500 would drive one or two of them quite well.

Haha.....I did notice your monstrous stack! I don't know why, but for some reason I have always been skeptical of Avatar. (Could be because of that not so good movie by the same name ) I have ZERO reason for this. Never played one. Hell, I don't think I've ever even been in the same room as one for that matter! Something about crazy prices makes me cautious. You love them you say, huh? Something I should look into? ......I wonder how a 2x10 would do instead of 4x10. I'm really trying to save some space and get a more manageable rig put together.

I hear ya this was going to be my small rig lol I had bought an Eden 2x15 in hopes of shrinking down my rig light portable then I bought the Avatar 4/10 and was like wow hum then I bough the 2/12 and went hum hum so I sold the Eden and have been using the Avatars since but thinking bought going 2 2/12 cabs I dont use my monster rig of 2 1/18 cab and 2 4/10s any more sold most of it use the 18's for our pa as subs so work in progress

Holy Cow! That's HUGE. I only have an XUV to haul my gear - and usually the drummers (right!?) - so size is still definitely a factor.

Man, it's such a tough call! Unfortunately I live in a pretty rural area so trying before buying is pretty much impossible.

a B1500 thread revive. I just used my year old or so B1500 for about its' 6th gig. That heavy, sonovab*tch stays home in its 3 space SKB rolling rack alot.

But I was doing a outdoor, BBQ cookoff-biker rally last Memorial Weekend. So I took the B-bomber out for a spin using 2 GB Neox 212Ts', VT pedal and Skyline Jobo 5. Man, that thing put out some nice big tones, I'd forgotten how good n big it can sound.

After the first set the amp was hot as hell but its done that before, always worried me. No issues, it ran hot, loud n low all nite. Just dont get the opportunity to use that big amp at alot of my gigs and honestly dont really wanna lug it to many gigs, tho the rolling rack has made it easier now.

Well, I may be OT here but just wanted to jump in and say I still got lotsa love for my B-Bomber and with a few outdoor gigs coming up this summer, it'll get used a few more times.

Just don't touch, OUCH! Muy Caliente and not in a sexy way.

I think it goes great with the Neox 212's as well!

Usually I just play one cab with my B800 but I love my outdoor rig too =)

I have a B1500 I use it in two out of three projects I'm working with. An old ampeg v4b gets dirtier so that works a little better in one project. Love the thing, I have it racked up with an aphex aural exciter which adds a lot more color, harmonics, tightens up the bottom end very nicely. Give it a shot some time. I loved the B1500 alone and then a nashville studio type had me try out the aural exciter with it and run it through an 8x10 and it is awesome.

The price is right, but all the specs I can find seem pretty cryptic and vague. Somewhere between 450W and 700W at maybe 4 or 8ohm.

Anybody using one?!
