I had a secret fantasy that they would be gold raised letters in Carvin's font.Thank you, it has been fun actually. Black as the original
. I toyed with white but thought it would stand out too much

Damm actually gold letters would have worked with the gold hardwareI had a secret fantasy that they would be gold raised letters in Carvin's font.![]()
. Why didn't you mention it earlier
.No offense, good Sir. I could have worded that better..Actually I am not "going out of my way" to keep the stock EQ. It works and initially I tried it through an amp and found it worked quite well
. So I'll keep it for now and evaluate it again once the bass is back together
.
Ditto. Nothing that went on here was simple or easy and it all turned out flawless. This is a very satisfying build to watch come together.
I just assumed you could easily hand cut three sets of perfect carvin logos out of gold foil.Damm actually gold letters would have worked with the gold hardware. Why didn't you mention it earlier

Not to worry, I was not offendedNo offense, good Sir. I could have worded that better..
.Kind of my thoughts as well as the black would be less conspicuous and tie in with the black pickups and black bridge plate.Ditto. Nothing that went on here was simple or easy and it all turned out flawless.
As for the decal, I agree that raised gold would look good, but then I pictured it with the gold tuners and bright new strings, etc and it will probably look fine/better with the toned down black decal.
If your gonna have a water slide decal made you could do some kind of black/gold combo. Black letters w gold border? Black letters with gold drop shadow? Either of those reversed?Damm actually gold letters would have worked with the gold hardware. Why didn't you mention it earlier

I could have but I was on the thought train of originality and keeping the black to blend with black pickups and black bridge plate and not having too much goldI just assumed you could easily hand cut three sets of perfect carvin logos out of gold foil.I still think you can, unless one of your wrist servos is on the fritz or something.
. Having said that I was looking at gold strings just the other day
.Too late... decals are on their way.If your gonna have a water slide decal made you could do some kind of black/gold combo. Black letters w gold border? Black letters with gold drop shadow? Either of those reversed?
Agreed! The rosewood fretboard is pretty dark like ebony and they also offered with no front markers. The gold frets are a little subtle stretch but they should have offered them with gold hardware anyway. Matching headstock to body was an option and several photos I've seen of walnut basses had black logo and I feel it looks appropriate. I wanted GB7 tuners as they match the originals but are 50% more then GB707s so I went modern there. I like the Hipshot bridge and first trial with the electronics went very well so likely they won't change. At it's heart it will still be a Carvin. The subtle black on walnut combo should look great!
I agree about keeping it looking original.
They offer good Evo fretwire now so yours will be a modern/vintage vibe. Now if you had the piezo bridge and preamp you'd really have old school vibe going. My 2003 LB75 has it but it needs some tlc.Agreed! The rosewood fretboard is pretty dark like ebony and they also offered with no front markers. I put a thin wipe of oil on the body just to see. Now it is looking more like walnut to me. Nice and rich and the nogal (peruvian walnut) stripes darkened giving a nice contrast. View attachment 4500855
....witchcraftThis thing was a messed up Carvin with its life more or less spent. Now it bounces back better and more beautiful than ever. What you're doing there is nothing short of a miracle.
Yes my pretties.......witchcraft
