Carvin SB5000 / SB4000 Roll Call...Part 5!

The carvin neck is 1.53" at the nut (somebody correct me if I'm wrong on this), so I would assume that, given just that measurement and the measurements from your sadowsky and your lakland, the carvin would be more akin to your sadowsky (at 1.5"). So if you really dig the sadowsky neck at 12" then I'd get the carvin at 12", if you like the sadowsky, but would like it a little rounder, go with the 10". I think if it sounds good you'll learn to love whatever radius you get.
Yeah, I think what you're talking about is the neck profile, not the fingerboard radius. Unfortunately, most vendors don't post the neck profile measurements (how thick or thin/flat the neck will feel overall in your hands). The fingerboard radius does contribute to that overall feel, but not as much as the profile does. This gets into what we usually generalize as "shallow C", "standard C", "D" etc.
I think the Sadowsky basses are generally considered a standard C profile. I'm guessing by your post (been a while for me on a lakie) the Lakland is more of a shallow C.
I definitely consider the SB5000 to be a shallow C... feels pretty thin from front-back compared to my Sadowsky. That said, I think the SB4000 is a different animal. I think it's more of a standard C or maybe even a slightly deeper C to kinda' match those really round feeling genuine 70's J necks.
On a 4-banger, I actually do like a rounder profile, but on a 5-banger (or more) I like them thinner, but I also don't have big hands. This is a highly subjective matter.
My SB4000 has the low wide frets and the 10" radius too. I really wish they'd offer that radius on the SB5000.
They might possibly over the phone. I don't know what specifically it applies to, but I've heard you can request things on a phone order the configurator doesn't support.

Yeah this is what is so crazy about the Carvins. They look amazing, play like goose liver, and have God like sound powers. Amasian!
It's been awhile since I posted in here, but I've been trollin'. That deep ruby is gorgeous with the white pearloid and maple.
Speaking of honeyburst, here's mine. Had it about a year now and I just received my Icon 5 build. Carvin. Love.
Man the suspense is killing me. Up to this point I still have not played an SB5000, I know it is going to be great though. Only an estimated 8 days to go. So, is the date on the post card the estimated completion date or the estimated receive date?
In January I received my B25S 1 day before postcard date, but others have reported a couple weeks lag.
Icon? This is the SB thread...but i would love to post a picture of my new B50 I just received last week, which has the SB pups and the SB electronics........
