Carvin SB5000 / SB4000 Roll Call...Part 6!

Waiting is the hardest part! I ordered my SB5000 Feb 10th. I've been occupying myself by reading through all the SB4000/5000 roll calls. Thank God for my LowEnd Jazz 5 or I'd go crazy! I have an old 90's Carvin LB 6 fretless that's a great bass too. Completion date for the SB is April 16th. Something to look forward to after March Madness.

How long until you got your postcard with the completion date?

It took about 2 weeks to receive the post card. I guess my wait is not going to be as long as the truss rod repair I had on my LB 6 two years ago. The orders for SB's had really taken off and my LB had to be worked into the build line. I waited over three months for the repair. but when I finally got it back, it was like a new bass!

Hi Eggman
I noticed that you have a HB4 pickup in Your SB coming from ebay.

In the "Bass Builder" Carvin lists this is an option for a HB2 is that the same thing as a HB4? (I'm guessing thats what it is). Carvin has those pickups listed a HB4, HB5 and HB5W here Carvin.com : USA Custom Shop Pickup Comparison Guide

If you are recording type of fellow I would love to hear an example of that. :hyper:

I can say that if I was ever going to get another SB I would get one with that MM type of pickup in place.

The way I read it is build code HB2 is a MM humbucker at bridge with a jazz single coil at neck. Since they only have one humbucker 4string option, I assume it is the pickup with part number HB4.

I will try to record this bass vs my SB with two jazz pickups.

It's the HB4 pickup, but the pickup combination option of the HB4 with a J99 in the neck position is coded as HB2. I'm not a huge fan of their coding system as it can be very confusing.
