Carvin SB5000 / SB4000 Roll Call...Part 6!

I just dropped an Audere JZ3 preamp into my SB5000 yesterday and it just sounds awesome. I actually really liked the stock pre but decided I needed the 3 band instead. The Z mode options are pretty sweet too.

Thats a great preamp and I use it all my J basses BUT my SBs.

Thanks guys! I'll get some pics with a real camera in the sunlight today or tomorrow. I'll be heading home with it here in just a little bit to do some A/B comparison with my Dingwall Combustion. So far I love the way it looks and feels, I'm just anxious to get them side by side and see how it sounds.

Also kinda' cool that basically, this bass is similar to mine, but you went with a light (BEM) board and black hardware... I went with a black (ebony) board an "light" (chrome) hardware. Both look really nice. Good choices!

Yeah I'm convinced now, Carvin just makes fantastic basses, and some of us are lucky enough to own one! Congratulations on being one, very nice indeed. Really want to hear the comparison between Dingwall and Carvin.

I agree, chrome looks great on there also. I went with all black specifically to make that BEM board pop visually. I also felt like the black makes the deep flame pattern stand out. Either way, it's tough to mess up one of these things.

I had a few Dingwalls and thought about getting a Combustion. Thought they looked cool. Seeing it next to the SB - I like the looks of the SB better. How's the sound comparison?

I'm glad to hear it. The only Carvin I have ever owned that disappointed me tone wise had the MM pickup at the bridge.
