Carvin SB5000 / SB4000 Roll Call...Part 6!

Hehe, no intention.... One has to discover his own path. :) I take it that you are ordering a fretted SB4000 now?
I haven't decided yet. I still have the fretless for sale at the moment. Waiting to see how that goes. Then deciding if I should order another neck for it (for $460) and keep it or just order one exactly as I want ($1100)

I also noticed this weekend after playing a 20 fret/4-string bass all week, that it felt liberating to get back to a 22 fret/5-string for the gig. I know its only a difference of 6 notes, but the added two octave positions and different timbres of notes sure is nice to have on the fly.

I just ordered mine today too...they said it should take 8 weeks. I asked for 2 non standard options: maple body and reverse icon headstock, and he said it was no problem, except you forfeit the 10 day return policy. I can't wait...I have a summer full of gigs to use it!

Told you so... :)

I believe I told you so......first!

I didn't tell you, but I COULDA' told you...

:D:D:D

Ah the love :D

I'm seriously thinking about ordering an SB4 tomorrow. Still deciding on 10 or 12 radius. My fretless is 12, but this VMJ is 9.5 and its kinda cool. Wondering if going 10 would give the neck a little more 70's jazz feel.

Also deciding between rosewood and maple. My SB5 is maple and I dig it much, but was thinking about trying something diff for the SB4. Basically ordering one as close to this VMJ as possible. Something like this possibly:

Man, I bet that is going to be purdy :)

I hope so! I'm another one of these who spent weeks trying to decide on wood and color options. I have a Low End Jazz 5 with a beautiful flame koa top and bird's eye fingerboard. I also have a 90's koa body winged LB6 fretless. I think the blue burst will be a sweet addition. My Low End has the same vol, vol, passive tone, active high & low stack as the SB's. I love this electronics configuration 'cause there's so many useable tones in there.
