Carvin SB5000 / SB4000 Roll Call...Part 6!

Hey guys, I came across this thread because I'm doing more homework on carvin's after seeing andplaying some of their basses I think I'm going to get one, and judging by some comments in this thread that it wouldn't be my last Carvin....
Anywho, I'm looking at an SB4001 [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]
I'm really just looking for a bass that has a flamed or quilted maple body, birdseye or flamed neck, and natural or birdseye board and with the looks and price of the sb4001 it looks perfect
I was also looking at maybe building one from warmoth....
my only concern is the chrome knob cover thing. I want one like the the non pickgaurd bass in their picture but how can I get it so the knobs are just coming right out of the bass without that ugly metal trapezoid?
Also, which finish is on the one pictured?

unfortunately, carvin does not offer a rear route option for the sb's, therefore you must have some kind of cover on the front. You can always check out the b40 if the control cover is a deal breaker. I am resigned to living with the cover because the bass is just a killer.

If that one floats your boat, sure.
If you can be patient, of course, you can order one up any way you want it.

I only spent $1400 for mine. Flock at Carvin San Diego hooked me up. Talk to him, tell him you saw my crazy awesome flame koa 5er and ask him to help you realize your dream. Couldn't hurt.

I never priced a real expensive one...but at $1800 you must have had just about every options...Mine priced under 12.

I'm definitely thinkin' about pullin' the trigger on my 2nd Carvin. But,I'm debating on the B25,or the SB5000. I do know I want this color. I'm gonna see if they'll give me this color without the darker 'burst around the edges.

^^ I'm returning that bass tomorrow. I'm getting the exact same one in a 4 string version so maybe this one will come up on the "In-Stock" page. If so.. you should pick it up because it's light and it plays wonderfully! OH and it's freakin' beautiful!
Whatever you do make sure you work with someone, Flock, whoever, just don't purchase off the site. They took care of me, let them take care of you.
