I'm using Carvin flats on my B50A kit. Sounds great, but I like flats. The Carvin flats are every bit as good as the Chromes IMO. I use the Chromes on my P5.

Carvin SB5000 / SB4000 Roll Call...Part 7!

I ordered the carvin flats on my sb4k. They sound good, but I was surprised they strung them through the body. Most flats are not made to be strung through the body and most string companies suggest not doing it. I contacted carvin about it and they said their flats are too long to top-load. (So I took them off and top loaded them without a problem).
I like their flats, but I won't order them again.
BTW, I felt they were more akin to labellas than chromes, very nice sounding flats though.
As far as I know, they are Labella flats labeled under the Carvin brand.
I route my flats through body on both my P5 and Carvin. Never had a problem with them doing that, with the P5 having been strung that way for 4 years.

This is true, somewhat. Labella makes the Carvin strings to Carvin's specs. But they are not simply repackaged Labellas.
Labella has gone so far as to make a flat expressly for stringing through the body.
I'm not saying you shouldn't string flats through the body, just saying many suggest not to. My other basses don't have the option so I don't buy the Carvin flats.
And, fwiw, if you go to the Carvin website, all their strings say 'made by Labella' except their flats. Not saying they aren't, but the flats are the only ones that don't say it explicitly.

I was very tempted to get the low wide fret option , as it sounds great for fast mobility , but I couldn't pull the trigger on them because I've never played on a bass that ha them and I already knew I liked the medium jumbos . I'm still curious about the low wides though, let us know how they are working for you.

I've fallen in love with them. It makes fretting feel almost effortless, and sliding from note to note is just buttery smooth. It's too soon to report on how they stand the test of time, but from what I've read they're quite reliable/durable. They just feel so right.
The one thing I was concerned about was whether or not they would effect playing slap bass. I can confirm very confidently that playing slap still sounds fantastic.
Most my basses have medium jumbos, and I'm not sure if I could look back now.

The low wides are the same size as my Fender frets on my Marcus Miller. Makes it very easy to switch between basses. I also ordered a new SB neck also with low wides. I recommend them.

Super hyped about this bass. Easily the best bass I've ever played.
Low-wide fret option, too. Swamp ash body. Matching quilt headstock. Gotta' love it.
Man, that green is awesome. Very, very nice. These basses are really makin' me want to spring for one. I'm just so into modding my BMW M5 as of late. Maybe after I finish modding the suspension & brakes, then I'll pull the trigger on one.

Incredible sounding bass!! and craftmanship second to none. single coil pick ups are silent!!
Very nice looking bass man...... is the action as low as it looks(?) cause WOW that looks LOOOOWWW! I haven't played a SB5000 though I'm on the verge of a ordering a SB5000 or a G&L JB... Can't decide.
