Cat scratch rat fur problems... Any easy fixes?

Sorry @Downunderwonder, we all got sidetracked for a minute. Ok, on short notice this is the best I could do...
Tried to find video, but failed...hope this will suffice.
If you want to deal with the problem effectively, you have to start by correcting the root cause. To this end, I have two words for you: cat bowling.
If it weren't for all the OT noise...

Dog people always say cats are terrible, but cat owners never say dogs are terrible. I’ve had a dog pee on my cabinet, but the rat fur is easily protected with a beach towel.
The same thing you might use to shave that cat's ass and sprinkle some hot sauce on it:
And yes, start covering your cabs. We had to put double-sided tape on some of our carpeted areas to prevent this (cats hate it, totally ruins the experience for them). I've had dogs and cats in equal numbers over the decades, both can have some nasty habits, but cats win that contest hands down, and often with malice attached.
For anyone else having this problem, make sure you have a couple of tempting scratching posts in your home. With inappropriate scratching, catch kitty in the act and have a squirt bottle nearby. This is negative behavior that ruins the experience of owning pets and you have every right to provide alternates and deterrents within reason (not the hot sauce, that was just a joke).

After shaving the existing damage clip your cat’s front nails. It might not be happy the first few times but I’ve done my cats for years and they’re fine with having it done.
Everyone with kitty problems, your kitty just wants to play also. Let them.

Did not read all the replies, this may have been mentioned... cats go for the edges and corners not the flat parts. Just cover all the edges with a strip of gaff tape. Doesn’t look half bad, and cats hate gaff.
