I have done it. Guys like you were at every rodeo I ever rode in. We would take them back to the holding pens, drape a rope over the horns of one of the bulls, and invite anybody that wanted to to hop in there and get that rope. Bring it back and you get $100. I rode for 4 years...... Every one who was offered the chance backed up. Every one.

Get up next to one of these bulls...... Especially when they're about to buck. They are so full of pent-up energy they vibrate. It's quite an experience to get on them.

On second thought, you probably would. Having no concept of the gravity of a situation seems almost natural to you.

I would guess there are probably viral videos of you doing stupid things with flammable liquids and ignition sources all over you tube,too.;)

Come on now. Don't play me off to be an idiot.

I went through a phase in my late teens to early 20's where I was into being a cowboy type. I went to PBR events, and the county fair rodeos around the state. I tried my hand at calf roping, I hung out at the local horse arena 20 minutes from my house watching the guys ride bulls and horses. My uncle worked rodeos for as long as I can remember, and would take us with him in California.

Yep, I can die riding a bull. I can get paralyzed, I can be severly injured too. I took those same chances on the football field as well. We all take them when we get in our car. I'm not trying to be some macho "I'm not afraid of nothin" type. Given the opportunity, I would give it a try. It doesn't intimidate me.

But to be completely fair...there is NO WAY you are EVER going to get me on a zipline. I won't do anything that involves heights, no matter how fun it is supposed to be. I'd probably curl up in a ball and cry like a baby if someone tried to make me walk across a rope bridge.

Im going ziplining in Hawaii (if Im not too drunk) at the end of June. Ive got a little fear of heights, but I also make every attempt I cna to scare the **** out of myself, so it sounds like fun!

Good points........ The football one rings a bell, too (I won't say pardon the pun, cause I intended it!!). Sticking my head in that 245 lb guy's chest certainly seemed to make sense at the time.

The thing that separates bull riding for me at least, is the randomness of the violence. As I said earlier, you can do everything right and get yourself parked in a wheelchair for life.

That's what got me off bulls for good....... I met this girl, and decided that I couldn't live without her, and hung 'em up.

I still walk kinda crooked sometimes, and my hands still hurt from the punishment, but I'm glad I got to do it. I still get my buckles out sometimes and tell my daughters stories. They don't like to watch the videos...... It upsets them.

Like my sig says, bull riding's easy. It's just "don't let go" practice.

Say what you want about Chad. Donates boatloads of time and money to charity, buys dinner/movies for the first 85 fans of his that show up at the restaurant in opposing teams town, is often the first one in, last one out of practice, and custodians at the Bengals facility have often put a blanket over him when they find him asleep on the couch of the video room. Always on the right side of the law, and has intrigued people to watch a sport they might not have otherwise paid attention to. His antics are harmless, and often very amusing.

The guy is just a goofy character. He had a hard upbringing and has said that's how he coped, by being the funny guy. And he is funny.

Also I wouldn't last a second on a bull, I've been to enough rodeos to know that, but given the chance and the right to wear an armored suit, I would get on it. I wish more than anything FL would get some real rodeos.

You bring up some good points, but where he goes wrong is he brings attention to all of that. There are plenty of other players in the NFL who do those type of things and more, and do it quietly.

While he may have steered clear of criminal law, the same can not be said about his track record of obeying team and NFL rules.

This whole fiasco of changing his name, what was that all about? Crying about how someone hurt your feelings? It doesn't work for me, sorry Chad.

You know, it's cool if he wants to play soccer, and it's cool if he wants to ride a bull. Many other NFL players are out doing what they want to right now as well. I just don't need to hear about Chad all the time and what he is up to next.

You know, this thread represents maybe the third time I've ever heard anyone mention him. I had no idea he was involved in anything other than football, and I don't even know which NFL team he plays on. It's really not hard at all to not pay any attention to him. I just wish my biggest frustration in life was Chad Johnson doing stuff.

I have to disagree. He never publicizes his work ethic and charitable work. Outside of pushing the boundaries of excessive celebration, he hasn't broken team or league rules. The way I see it, he has a brief time to capitalize on his athletic ability and marketability, and he is making the most of it. Believe me, living in Cincinnati, we hear all the negative talk about Chad, but most fans of the Bengals like him because he delivers on the field more consistently than any receiver in the history of the franchise. He was much better when TJ Houshmanzadeh was here, and hopefully he will be better next year without TO, and with the addition of AJ Green, Jordan Shipley, and Jermaine Gresham.
