Cheap Hollowbody Basses?

I picked up a used Classic IV and was pleasantly surprised by the build quality . And noticed some similarities when I saw the Harley Benton . The shape was slightly different , but I strongly suspect they were both made on the same floor .
Advice.............Look for used for a better price than new.
Quite by accident, my son let me use his Facebook account and on FB Market place and only about 6 miles from the house, a fellow was selling an excellent condition 2006 Jack Casady Epiphone bass for $550. I could not resist the price. It is semi-hollow.
Just like JRA mentioned, semi-hollow basses are usually "neck divers" but they are normally light weight 7 to 8 lbs.
(I hate to say this cliché but the JC sounds basically like a P Bass with normal, hot and hotter switch. Nothing wrong with that but it doesn't sound unique.)
Stay patient. Keep your eyes open. By used.

Right, thanks for the comments. Looking mostly at the Harley Benton HB-60 new or the Guild Starfire or Ibanez AFB200 used. For the full hollowbodies (AFB200 & HB-60), do any of you owners find it beneficial to take off the felt under the bridge?

I picked up this Grote Hofner club bass clone for $200 new from Amazon a few years ago. I wouldn’t call it a high quality bass, but it’s a ton of fun to play and hasn’t given me any issues. It full hollowbody and weighs nearly nothing. I put rotosound flats on it, but still needed to add some foam to really get that old school thump. LaBellas probably wouldn’t need that extra measure. In the videos above you can hear it with the stock rounds and no mute, then with flats and the mute.
Looks good and sounds good. I've never heard of Grote. And what happened to the white rally stripe?
