I'm playin my first gig tonight at a house party and I'm kind of nervous haha. we're like a "deathcore" band, Idk what they call it I just go to play my bass. any tips?

Leaving Friday night to go to Boston for a Saturday morning gig. Its been booked as a "rock 'n roll Bar Mitzvah". Lots of classic rock, a very nice venue and no tux. No costume ( it is Halloween) but at least no tux. I hate tuxedos

Fwiw, my advice woulda been: 1) have fun, but 2) don't get too plastered.
Oh, and bring a backup for everything in your rig.
Ok, so I just played my first ever gig!
I just joined the band about a month ago, and our first gig was at an awesome local lounge. The sound guy talked to the guitarist after, and said I was a keeper!
We've been to asked to come back more often, and everyone said it was the band's best gig in a while.

My band plays a riverboat cruise here in Pittsburgh and apparently within the next two weeks we'll be performing with all 92 Rockettes as guests. This should be fun.
Two clubdates: Saturday aft. and Sunday twilight.

Tomorrow night, my country band is playing in fabulous Marshall VA! I think it's a Moose lodge? Eagles? One of those animal venues...

Regular bar gig with an RnB band. In between the second and third set, a guy walked up to me and the band leader, asked for a card ect... I kid you not, this is exactly what he said to me "Yeah it was good, horn section was good, guitar good, vocals good....what you did....."
Note: he was implying what I did was good with his tone, just i think the concept of a BASS guitar confused him haha.

Turned out to be a Ruritan, I'm pretty sure that's not an animal... is it? Anyway, the free food was good, the bar was free too, and we spent a bunch of time backstage singing old songs, that was just as much fun as the onstage playing! And we got paid cash 2 hours before we played a note. I love that.
Next weekend: a 2-nighter at Addy's in Manassas VA, about 100 yards from the gas station where the recently executed John Muhammad sniped the guy.
Okay TBers we got a gig nearly every weekend I will be in a placed called Bogey's in NJ

Okay fellow TBer's gig went off without any problems nice crowd as always.no excitement going home from the gig either so all in all a great show went off with out a hitch
Next one this Friday only think that I know about this one is no matter how many times we have played there the weather has always been bad! But on the other hand the place is always packed no matter what the weather is and we always have a great show so no I am not complaining LOL, just stating a strange fact. Oh yeah by the way calling for rain Friday night here is New Jersey, so yeah you can blame it on us booking this club ha ha ha

We had a sub lead guitarist Friday night, nice guy and he did a real good job. We had a decent crowd, better than recent Fridays in there.
Saturday was a mob scene! Several birthdays and lots of other folks too! It's our last regular gig of the year. We'll be there on New Year's Eve too, I hope it's as good as Saturday was!
Next gig: with my Grateful Dead cover band, opening for a Chicago bluegrass band called Cornmeal! 12/5 in Rockville MD.
Had a good gig Friday night. normal poor weather when ever we play this place and this time no exception it was cold out! and I am talking gloves on the hands cold! Anyway there was a class reunion there so the place was packed it was also the owners Birthday and his Aunts so yeah when our fans arrived it was standing room only we could barley get through them to get the equipment to the set up area. We rocked the house everyone enjoyed themselves and we had a guy from the re-union join us on stage to perform Roadhouse blues and he sang it very well! Next one is our last show of 2009 Dec 5th Sat night I will hit back the Monday after

Sunday night 12/6 coming up with my improv band Burgess Penguin @ Earthshaking Music, doing a double bill with an organ trio called Popcorn (featuring Dave Ellington on organ, who is an amazing musician and one of the coolest/funniest cats you'll ever meet) Dave will even sit in with us for a tune or two.

Well, as the locals know, we had our first snowstorm of the season yesterday. With that, and the fact that Phish was playing in VA, there was somewhat of a dent in the potential crowd. But we played pretty well, 45 minutes went by like 15, and Cornmeal was great! I recommend you see them if you like bluegrass at all. They are progressive or "jamgrass", very compatible with the Deadhead crowd. They even covered "Cumberland Blues"!
Next gig: next Saturday, On The Bus (the GD band) at the Potomac Grill in Rockville MD.
